Summary
At the spring banquet, the young prince mistook me for Miss Zhou and lingered to exchange a few words. Miss Zhou quarreled bitterly with him over it.
Humiliated, he got drunk and, in a fit of spite, asked the Emperor to grant him my hand.
Once the imperial decree came down, my family had no choice. We quietly broke off my recent engagement and sent me away to marry him.
But on our wedding night, the young prince told me, “I’m sorry. I acted on impulse. Since His Majesty arranged this marriage, we cannot simply divorce. In a year, I’ll arrange for you to fake your death.”
What a joke. Anything I, Xiao Yisi, swallow stays swallowed. I never spit it back out.
