Chapter 5
Chapter 5
After that day, Xie Ting behaved as if everything were normal, as though nothing had happened.
He still cooked delicious meals for me and obeyed my every whim. He washed my feet, combed my hair, and cared for me with painstaking devotion.
The only thing he refused to do was let me leave.
But according to the plot, Xie Ting must have gotten together with the heroine by now.
He went out at the same time every day. Whenever he returned, he tormented me in bed even more mercilessly, murmuring complaints into my ear.
“Baby, you’re the one who made me like this.”
“My body isn’t pure anymore.”
“This is all your fault.”
“You have to take responsibility.”
All the things Xie Ting had once been too shy and psychologically unable to say came spilling out.
During my imprisonment, I suspected he had spoken more than in all the rest of his life combined.
I knew it.
He was punishing me!
He even blamed me for defiling him and demanded that I take responsibility.
Sob.
Was Xie Ting going to keep me locked up forever?
Then, one day, he did not come home for more than twelve hours. He would not answer his phone either.
Frantic, I tried to smash down the door–only for it to open at the turn of the handle.
The key had been hanging beside it the whole time, plainly within my sight.
As I stood there stunned, the floating comments finally reappeared.
[Huh? I can finally get through again. Ahhh! Supporting woman, you’re still alive!]
[Poor thing. Did the male lead lock her up? I knew his personality wouldn’t let him spare her.]
[Where is he? He’s neither with the heroine nor here with the supporting woman. Did her interference change everything that came afterward?]
I was afraid something had happened to Xie Ting.
He had never stayed away from me this long. I snatched up my phone and car keys and opened the front door–only to find another familiar face outside.
Shen Yu lowered the hand he had raised to knock and showed me the dozen unanswered calls on his phone.
“I haven’t heard from you since I sent the divorce agreement. You didn’t answer any of my calls.”
“I was worried, so I looked up your address.”
He asked tentatively, “Are you all right?”
In a hurry, I shook my head. “I’m fine.”
I had just turned around when the comments flashed another warning overhead.
[The male lead is away. This is the perfect chance for the supporting woman to sign the agreement, leave it for him, and go!]
[Exactly. Her lawyer is right here too. She can let him handle everything. What a perfect opportunity.]
My steps stopped.
As I hesitated, a car pulled up nearby. Xie Ting stepped out with a ring of gauze wrapped around his head. He looked at the man beside me, his gaze dark enough to terrify.
Had Xie Ting been injured in a car accident?
I was about to run to him when someone caught my wrist.
Shen Yu frowned at me, his expression earnest.
“You were in the same frantic state the last time I saw you.”
He chose his words carefully. “If your husband has been unfaithful, or if he has done anything else to you, you can tell me at any time.”
“I’ll do everything in my power to help.”
“We were classmates, after all.”
