Chapter 2
A banquet that turned into a farce finally ended.
Julian left, holding the drunken Chloe in his arms.
They hadn’t even walked out of my sight when the two of them kissed under the garden lights.
Through the rain-streaked glass, I watched them quietly for a while.
Then I lowered my head and carefully put away the check.
After that, I took out my phone and opened the pinned conversation.
Before the banquet began, I’d sent a message: “I kind of miss you,” and received six replies in total.
Five hours ago: “1.”
Four hours ago: “I have to train now.”
Three hours ago: “Actually, I don’t mind being disturbed while I’m training.”
Two hours ago: “They said today is your birthday.”
An hour ago: “Happy birthday.”
And just now, a new message popped up: “I’m coming to see you.”
I curled my lips and smiled a little.
Replied: “No need, I’ll come watch your game next week.”
At the top of the screen, the words “typing…” flashed for a long time.
Finally, he replied with two messages:
“Okay.”
“Don’t leave me hanging.”
