Chapter 10
That night, I had a bit to drink.
I dreamed of the first time I met Leo Archer.
Back then, he had just transferred back to China from an overseas team.
So young, yet already the hottest player in the entire esports scene.
At that not-too-big, not-too-small business banquet, he was one of the focal points of the whole event.
When I took my glass and went out to the garden, I happened to run into him.
I smiled gently and kindly, “Hello, Mr. Archer, my name is Victoria Sterling.”
“Oh, I know you.”
He replied lazily, “Just now inside, they were talking, calling you Ninja Turtle1.”
“When I was coming out, I saw your husband racing off with his girlfriend.”
My smile didn’t change: “I know.”
“You’re not angry?”
“Not angry.”
“Don’t want to get back at him?”
“How would I do that?”
Under the gentle moonlight, those youthful brows and eyes were absurdly good-looking, with a faint sharpness flashing in his pupils.
A sudden rush of drunkenness made me lean closer to him,
“So, Mr. Archer, are you willing to be my partner in a tit-for-tat revenge?”
Leo Archer burst out laughing:
“My dear, I don’t have such unusual interests.”
I blinked: “That’s truly a pity, then.”
As I spoke, I was just about to step back.
But my wrist was suddenly seized by him.
“Giving up so easily?”
The young man raised his brows slightly, “Maybe if my dear says a few more words, I’ll be tempted?”
……
The sudden ringing of my phone pulled me from the dream.
I picked up, and Leo Archer’s voice came through.
“Victoria Sterling, I’m downstairs at your place.”
Footnote:
-
- Ninja Turtle(忍者神龟): A derogatory nickname, likely referring to the popular cartoon characters, but here used to imply Victoria’s perceived ability to endure or tolerate difficult situations (like her husband’s infidelity) without showing emotion, much like a turtle retreating into its shell for protection.
