The Villainess's Maniacal Aesthetics - Chapter 8
It was already dawn when I got home.
My father was still awake. Hearing me come in, he slowly looked up, his tone dripping with annoyance.
“You’re getting engaged tomorrow. Where have you been running around?”
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. I knew what I was about to say would infuriate him, but I had no other choice.
“Dad, I want to call off the engagement…”
The air froze. The next second, he slammed his hand on the coffee table with a loud BANG.
“Jiang Yongning, what nonsense are you spouting?!” he roared, his voice so loud it made my ears ring.
But I stood my ground, trying to explain everything to him. “Lu Zichen is not a good person. He…”
SLAP!
A sharp slap landed across my face. The stinging pain spread instantly, and my vision swam as I struggled to stay upright.
My father looked down on me, his eyes filled with disgust. “Jiang Yongning, you listen to me. The engagement party is tomorrow. Even if Lu Zichen were a dog, you would still marry him! The Jiang family cannot afford this humiliation. If I hear you say anything like this again, I’ll break your legs.”
The comments were celebrating:
[Good hit! The villainess’s mopey face has needed a slap for a long time!!!]
[LOL, does the villainess really think she can fight back? Her dad clearly loves the female lead more!]
[The female lead is the father’s biological daughter, you know~ If it weren’t for the villainess’s mother’s will, he would have kicked the villainess out long ago!]
[It’s all the villainess’s mother’s fault for being biased! The female lead called her ‘Mom’ too, so why did she leave all her money to the villainess?]
I lowered my head, biting my lip so hard it almost bled, desperately holding back the urge to question him.
When I looked up again, my face was calm, my voice barely a whisper.
“…Okay, Dad. I understand.”
With that, I turned and quickly walked upstairs, my steps a little unsteady. Behind me, I heard my father’s cold snort, as if mocking my futile resistance.
