The Streamer's Allure: Top Fans Vying for Her Affection - Chapter 55
Chapter 55
“Where are you?”
Jiang Zhouzhou pursed her lips and glanced at the time on her phone. It was already past eleven at night.
Xu Yiyi replied groggily, “Mmm, I’m at HOOL Bar on Baiyang Road!”
Judging by her voice, she was clearly very drunk.
“Zhouzhou, are you still mad at me because of the class reunion? Actually, I’ve been regretting it the whole time, but I didn’t dare apologize to you…”
“Li Mu is my direct boss. If I had refused him, I would’ve been fired the next day for all sorts of reasons. Besides, I knew you looked down on Li Mu, so I thought I’d just agree to help him on the surface.”
“Zhouzhou, please don’t be mad at me, okay? Right now… I really only have you left.”
Using her drunken state as courage, Xu Yiyi poured out everything she wanted to say.
Jiang Zhouzhou gripped her phone and said calmly, “Don’t wander off. I’m coming to get you.”
After hanging up, Jiang Zhouzhou used a ride-hailing app to call a car.
The bar was located in Haishi’s most prosperous economic district, about a twenty-minute drive from her place.
Jiang Zhouzhou’s willingness to go didn’t mean she had forgiven Xu Yiyi. Rather… she was worried about a girl’s safety.
A place like a bar attracted all kinds of people. If Xu Yiyi was drunk and unconscious, it would be very easy for something bad to happen.
By the time she arrived, it was exactly midnight.
Standing at the entrance, Jiang Zhouzhou dialed Xu Yiyi’s number twice, but no one picked up.
She hesitated for a moment before biting the bullet and stepping inside.
It felt like stepping into another world in an instant. The boisterous music was deafening, and the dazzling lights shifted rapidly. People danced on stage while the crowd below reveled in the frenzy; only a few dark corners offered a hint of tranquility.
Jiang Zhouzhou wove through the crowd, searching everywhere for Xu Yiyi.
Under the dim lighting, everyone’s faces were a blur. The scent of alcohol evaporated into the air, making one feel exceptionally sober after breathing it in.
At a booth on the edge of the bar, a young man nudged the man beside him, who was lazily sipping fruit juice.
“Zhou Xian, look…”
“A new face just arrived. She’s really pretty!”
Zhou Xian lifted his eyelids and looked in the direction the man was pointing.
His dark, indifferent eyes brightened for a moment.
Oh wow, what a coincidence!
The man beside him continued to chatter incessantly, his voice audible even over the bar’s music.
“She looks so pure, probably a student. She doesn’t look very old. I wonder if it would be too forward if I just went up and hit on her…”
As a veteran in the field of romance, the man was pondering which pick-up line would have the highest success rate when he saw Zhou Xian pick up his phone and snap a photo of the girl’s silhouette.
He looked at Zhou Xian in surprise. “What? You’re interested too?”
Having hung out with Zhou Xian for so long, this was the first time he had seen him show interest in a girl.
“If you’re interested, buddy, then I won’t make a move.”
Zhou Xian raised an eyebrow and said meaningfully, “It’s not that I’m interested. It’s another guy who’s interested.”
With a smirk, he opened his chat with Lin Chen.
Zhou Xian: [Guess who I just saw?]
If that guy knew he had run into the Female Streamer he was so obsessed with at a bar, he would definitely regret not coming tonight.
However…
Even Zhou Xian hadn’t expected to run into her here.
Coming to a bar late at night-it seemed she wasn’t as innocent as she appeared in her livestreams.
But… he wasn’t sure if it was because of the bar’s natural atmosphere, but seeing her in person… she looked even more delicate and beautiful. Especially those eyes-filled with panic and confusion amidst the glitz and glamour, she looked like a little rabbit that had accidentally wandered into a tiger’s den, making one unable to resist the urge to tease her.
Lin Chen replied quickly, but with only a single question mark.
Zhou Xian was about to send the photo he had just taken when the man beside him nudged him again.
“Tsk, looks like someone beat us to it.”
Zhou Xian looked up, the playful smirk on his face fading slightly.
Across the room, Jiang Zhouzhou finally found Xu Yiyi.
Contrary to her fears, Xu Yiyi wasn’t passed out drunk.
“Zhouzhou, you’re finally here! Come on, have a couple of drinks with me!”
She let out a wine-scented hiccup and grabbed a fresh glass for Jiang Zhouzhou.
Jiang Zhouzhou frowned deeply. “Yiyi, why didn’t you answer my calls?”
Xu Yiyi let out an “ah,” then pointed to her ear to signal that the music in the bar was too loud for her to hear.
Jiang Zhouzhou had no choice but to pull out her phone and type in her notes app: [It’s late. We should go back.]
Xu Yiyi snatched the phone away and leaned in close to Jiang Zhouzhou’s ear. “I don’t want to go back. Let me have a few more! As long as I’m sober, I can’t stop thinking about Chen Fei…”
As she spoke, tears began to stream down her face again.
“He clearly had a change of heart, yet he had to blame it all on me. Now he’s complaining that I’m too assertive and ambitious-why didn’t he complain about that before?”
“Men are all the same. When they like you, you can do no wrong. When they don’t, everything you do is a mistake…”
She downed another glass and then insisted Jiang Zhouzhou join her for one.
Jiang Zhouzhou shook her head. “I don’t drink.”
Xu Yiyi had already filled a glass to the brim for her, muttering, “No way. If you don’t drink, it means you’re still mad at me…”
Helpless, Jiang Zhouzhou could only pick up the glass and take a small sip.
“Alright, can we go back now?”
Before Xu Yiyi could answer, an unexpected man suddenly walked toward them.
“So, Zhouzhou and Yiyi are here too!” The man greeted them with a smile, feigning a chance encounter.
Seeing Li Mu again, Jiang Zhouzhou understood everything in an instant.
“Yiyi, to trick me into coming here… you really went through a lot of trouble.”
In that moment of feeling like Xu Yiyi was a stranger, she also felt a wave of sorrow.
She had been worried about Xu Yiyi’s safety, and Xu Yiyi had exploited that concern.
Seeing that the ruse was up, the drunken haze vanished from Xu Yiyi’s eyes. She looked at Jiang Zhouzhou apologetically. “Zhouzhou, don’t blame me. Brother Mu really likes you. You two are such a talented and good-looking match! I know you’re never the type to take the initiative, so as your best friend, I just wanted to help create an opportunity for you.”
Li Mu laughed. “That’s right, Zhouzhou. Just give me a chance! I’ve realized that no matter how many girlfriends I go through, I still like girls like you the most.”
The more thorns she had, the more she piqued his competitive nature.
Besides, he had done his research. Jiang Zhouzhou had no real connection to Gu Nanfeng; the scene at the restaurant before was just Gu Nanfeng meddling in things that didn’t concern him.
Not far away, the man watching the drama said to Zhou Xian, “To be targeted by Li Mu… I have to say, that girl is really unlucky.”
Though they were all trust-fund babies who spent their time playing around, Li Mu wasn’t part of their circle.
Their group might be wild, but they played clean, focusing on mutual consent. Li Mu’s methods, however, were quite underhanded. Word was he had ruined several girls back in school.
“I’d bet that drink is definitely dirty. It’s probably been spiked.”
Even as the man was complaining, he saw Zhou Xian suddenly stand up…
