Chapter 2
Evening, after work.
I took the young girl back to her apartment before heading home.
As usual, Lu Tong was already in the kitchen cooking.
There were several dishes on the table–things I didn’t like, but could eat.
I couldn’t help but click my tongue.
Still angry.
During dinner, Lu Tong didn’t mention anything about what happened during the day.
I cleared my throat softly.
I picked up the bouquet and gift from the chair, brought them over to her, and took the initiative to break the silence in the dining room.
“Wife, these are for you.”
“I ordered the bag with the sales associate last month, and the necklace too…”
This was the first time in our ten years of marriage that I wanted to cover up my mistake with a guilty conscience.
My words were a bit awkward and stilted.
I couldn’t tell whether Lu Tong believed me or not.
Not until she put down her chopsticks and bowl, interrupting me: “Do you really like her?”
Her sudden question left me somewhat stunned.
“The young girl from earlier today.”
“Liang Wan.”
The more Lu Tong stared at me, the more my head ached.
The draft I’d rehearsed in the car on my way back was a complete mess.
After thinking for a moment, I decided to lay it all out.
“Or, let’s talk about something.”
“How about we try an open marriage?”
“If you meet someone who makes your heart flutter, you can be like me…”
“Okay.”
