The Nine O'Clock Husband - Chapter 7
In a fit of anger, I went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife, holding it to his throat.
“What exactly do you want? Haven’t you had enough?”
Jackson didn’t dodge. A night without food or drink had left his voice weak, and his eyes were filled with pleading as he looked at me:
“Isabella, whether you believe it or not, I truly love you. I never thought about divorcing you.”
“I thought you were just throwing a tantrum and that you’d come back once you calmed down, but you’re so heartless. You really don’t want me anymore.”
“We’ve been through so much together, deeply loving each other. Apart from that aspect, I’ve long considered you an inseparable family.”
Hearing the word “love” from Jackson’s mouth, I found it truly laughable.
Last night, I had already figured out why Jackson came.
Ava is a spoiled person; one look at her hands and I knew she had never done any housework.
With someone like that, I don’t believe she would change for Jackson.
Jackson can’t control his lower half, yet he craves my gentle care. He wants it all, but where in the world is there such a good thing?
In fact, when I returned, I had a few dreams about our child, calling me “mom” in the dream.
Every time I woke up, I hated Jackson even more. This kind of pain shouldn’t be mine alone to bear.
“Jackson, do you know? We had a child.”
Jackson’s eyes suddenly lit up, looking expectantly at my stomach:
“Isabella, I know you can’t let go. Come back with me, and we’ll remarry immediately. Whatever you want me to do, I’ll agree.”
He thought that having a child would mend our relationship, but I didn’t want to give him that dream.
“The child is gone, just on the day you pushed me for Ava.”
“You can check the surveillance from that day. I never intended to harm the child in Ava’s womb, but you, for an unfounded accusation, caused the death of my child.”
“Jackson, you keep saying you love me, but your love is so cheap.”
“Continuing this entanglement now is even more degrading.”
Jackson’s expression shifted from joy to shock to pain, and he curled up, sobbing.
I didn’t pay him any more attention and threw the knife on the ground.
You don’t necessarily have to use your hands to kill someone.
Before leaving, I heard Jackson shout, “I will definitely give you and the child justice.”
