The Eight-Year Lie: Shattered Vows and a Vengeful Heart - Chapter 8
With extreme self-control, I turned and walked back into the park. It wasn’t my time to show myself yet. Heartbroken, I continued to chat and laugh with Mrs. Liang, and after I calculated Xu Ge had finished dealing with things, I sent him a message.
Xu Ge’s face wasn’t good when he came to pick me up, but he still managed a smile as he saw Mrs. Liang off with me. Once we were in the car, I deliberately asked, “Your face looks so bad, what happened?”
Xu Ge shook his head. “Nothing.”
I snorted inwardly. “This is just the beginning; the real show is yet to come.”
That evening, I insisted on dragging Xu Ge to write invitations together. The covers were light green, with a picture of a couple in sportswear under a gardenia tree. We both fell in love with them at first sight when choosing the invitations.
Xu Ge’s handwriting was excellent, but today it was below par. After writing only a few, he said he was tired and would write the rest another day. Indeed! His heart was no longer in it; writing this was nothing but torture.
I didn’t say anything, and meticulously wrote out an invitation myself, then sealed it with the same light green wax seal, and let it dry.
This was my love, and it deserved a conclusion, even if it wasn’t what I wanted.
