The Eight-Year Lie: Shattered Vows and a Vengeful Heart - Chapter 17
Xu Ge’s expression returned, and surprise gradually crept onto his face. He seemed unable to look enough, even reaching out to touch my stomach.
After I started dating Xu Ge, he truly doted on me to death. He showered me with all the attention I hadn’t received in over a decade.
Xu Ge’s hand stopped in mid-air. He suddenly looked up at me, staring at me in disbelief, as if trying to bore a hole through me. His emotions were too intense for him to utter a single word.
“Xu Ge, let’s end it where we began!”
After saying this, I pushed him away. Such a big man, yet he was pushed to the ground by me and didn’t move for a long time.
I picked up my bag and stood up. As I closed the door, I saw him clutching the B-ultrasound report tightly to his chest. Turning to go downstairs, I heard his heartbreaking sobs from the classroom.
As I descended the stairs, a large kapok flower fell at my feet. I looked back, and could still vaguely hear his cries.
When I left Lin City, only Mrs. Liang came to see me off. She told me that Xu Ge’s father had been working tirelessly for him, pulling strings everywhere, but Xu Ge himself remained completely inactive, allowing that woman to falsely accuse him.
The train traveled north. A silver ring was tossed into the air, disappearing forever.
The flower of eighteen finally withered in the midsummer eight years later.
