The Eight-Year Lie: Shattered Vows and a Vengeful Heart - Chapter 13
On the third day, Xu Ge’s parents arrived.
Indeed, after the video was released, no one could sit still.
I spent a large sum of money to make the video trend, and now I estimate everyone in Lin City knows about it. Moreover, the person I hired was very professional; Xu Ge and that woman’s faces were exceptionally clear.
The power of netizens is immense. They were thoroughly doxxed, and the comments under that video cursed both of their ancestors up and down.
I put away my phone and looked out the window. Xu Ge’s parents dragged him away. Unsurprisingly, the next step would be Xu Ge’s father pulling strings, even if it meant a demotion or disciplinary action, just to keep this golden rice bowl.
But how could the unit possibly keep a morally corrupt person who arbitrarily skipped work and was embroiled in scandal? Moreover, Mrs. Liang had already given Xu Ge’s superior a strict order.
Xu Ge would never recover from this.
I was originally supposed to be discharged on the third day, but I didn’t leave until the fourth. As I walked out of the hospital, the first person I saw was that woman.
She was still wearing the same clothes from that day, but with a mask, her hair disheveled, and her eyes bloodshot. Anger was etched on her face when she saw me. I stood by the guard booth, separated from her by a sliding door.
“Jiang Li! You set me up! Do you know I was fired from the kindergarten! I don’t have a job anymore! I’m on the blacklist of the entire industry!”
I slowly straightened my body, supporting my belly, and took a slight breath. “I asked for the hospital address, you wanted me to break up with Xu Ge.” I spread my hands at her. “It was just mutual fulfillment, there’s no trickery involved.”
“That video, you got someone to film it, didn’t you! You weren’t fulfilling me at all, you wanted to ruin me, ruin Xu Ge!”
I let out a cold laugh. “The family affection, love, and home I had hoped for since I was eighteen were torn apart and trampled by the two of you. You destroyed everything I longed for. Am I supposed to congratulate you?”
“It was you after all!”
The woman had lost all reason in her anger, banging loudly on the door. Just then, a car drove in, and the sliding door slowly opened. The woman rushed in, looking like she was ready to fight me to the death.
She pounced on me, completely disregarding the child in her belly. It seemed she truly hated me to death.
Fortunately, the security guard had already rushed out of the booth when she lunged. She cursed loudly, wishing she could scratch my face and break my neck, but I suddenly began to pity her.
Without a job, she wouldn’t have been so furious, because the child in her belly belonged to the Xu family. But from her current appearance, it seemed she had lost both.
I had no intention of watching a madwoman, so I called a car and tried to bypass her. From behind me came a heartbreaking wail, “I’m going to tell Xu Ge that you’re the one who made him lose his job and be scorned by everyone, you vicious woman!”
Childish!
I turned around and looked at the woman held by the security guard. “At this point, he’s barely taking care of himself. But if you want to tell him, then tell him. I’d love to see his reaction when he learns the truth, wouldn’t he be even more heartbroken?”
“Jiang Li!”
“Don’t go! You wicked woman, you’ll die a horrible death! You…”
