- Chapter 24 - She Went to Beg Him 2
Gu Xiaoai felt her ears aching from the noise as she scanned the nightclub for any sign of Li Juefeng, but to no avail.
This nightclub was ridiculously large, and the man didn’t bother specifying which floor he was on.
As she was about to find a slightly quieter spot to make a call, a middle-aged man wearing a badge that read “Account Manager” stepped in front of her. “Excuse me, are you Miss Gu?” he asked.
Miss Gu?
Did Li Juefeng send him?
Gu Xiaoai nodded hesitantly. “Yes, that’s me.”
“Mr. Li is waiting for you in the VIP room on the eleventh floor. This way, please.” Without hesitation, the account manager led her toward the elevator.
As Gu Xiaoai stepped into the elevator, she caught a glimpse of the account manager holding a photo-the picture was of her, taken during her middle school days.
Why did he have her photo?
Could it be that Li Juefeng, that bizarre man, carried her picture with him at all times?
The speculation sent a chill down her spine. When they first met, Li Juefeng had called her by name as though he knew her well. But why… why didn’t she have any memory of him?
Was her memory really that awful?
Li Juefeng possessed a face that was unforgettably handsome, paired with a venomous and impossibly difficult personality. If she had seen him or known him before, there was no way she would’ve forgotten him so completely.
Unable to make sense of it all, Gu Xiaoai stepped out of the elevator as the account manager opened the door to the VIP room, gesturing for her to enter.
The spacious room was nothing like the vibrant, chaotic scenes downstairs. Instead, it exuded the sophistication and exclusivity of an upscale club. Around ten people were gathered, men of varying ages and women dressed uniformly in provocative low-cut outfits.
Li Juefeng lounged casually in the middle of the sofa, his body leaning slightly back. His tie was loosened, and two buttons on his shirt were undone, exposing his toned chest. On either side of him sat two women who cozied up intimately.
“Who’s the idiot interrupting us?” One of the men, drunk and slouched, barked impatiently as he heard the door open, annoyed by the disruption.
Gu Xiaoai couldn’t help but feel out of place, like someone who had stumbled into the wrong setting. Dressed in a plain sweater and jeans, she stood awkwardly, the picture of simplicity amidst the glamorous crowd.
As she hesitated over whether she should leave, Li Juefeng glanced over at her. The teasing, triumphant smile on his lips was unmistakable. He said casually, “My woman, here to have a drink.”
Did she think she was still back in a college town? Dressing so modestly?
Still, she was smart enough to know when it was time to plead for help. Otherwise, he would’ve made her life even more miserable.
“Oh, she’s Mr. Li’s woman, huh? Please, Miss, have a seat.” One of the men quickly pushed aside the woman seated to Li Juefeng’s left and gestured for her to take the spot.
