Chapter 1
“Aren’t you going to explain it to everyone? You know, about licking my feet while I was asleep last night.”
The moment my words fell, the whole classroom plunged into a deathly silence.
That gloomy boy who always kept his head down in the corner slowly widened his eyes, cracks appearing on his frozen face.
“I did not.”
The campus belle strode up in a few steps.
There was no disgust in her eyes, only wholehearted admiration.
I thought she was just joking, but unexpectedly, she transferred the money to me without another word.
When transferring the money, the legendary cool and beautiful campus belle’s hands were trembling.
She clung to my arm, as if she had met her last hope.
“Master, please save my brother.”
She said her parents had taken Qin Yu to see psychiatrists both at home and abroad, and the answers were always the same.
“The best solution is to find a peer, so he can sense the beauty that belongs to this age.”
But Qin Yu hated anyone approaching him, except for his family.
At our age, saving face is everything, so no one wanted to take on such a troublesome job with someone as foul-tempered as Qin Yu.
“The more you stick to him, for every extra sentence you say to him, I’ll give you another thousand.”
The campus belle held my hand like she was seeing her savior.
I gripped her hand, staring at the thousand yuan, feeling like I was seeing a living Bodhisattva handing out money.
Isn’t it just bothering someone?
I’m a pro at that.
Ever since I was little, in every teacher’s eyes, I was the reincarnation of a fly–relentless and annoying.
In elementary school, to make me shut up, the head teacher even seated me with the student who had a hearing impairment.
Later, I learned sign language and secretly chatted with my deskmate under the table.
Just like forming seals in Naruto, my hands danced so quickly it was scary.
When my deskmate got excited, his fingers nearly cramped up.
The teacher went to my mom and told her I could even chat with stray dogs on the street, and that she should take me to see a doctor.
This job was practically tailor-made for me, especially since Qin Yu was so handsome.
I turned to look at Qin Yu.
Qin Yu had just spoken three words, then lowered his head again.
He seemed to regret opening his mouth on reflex, and now sat with his dark head facing us.
Completely ignored, my childhood friend Yang Chen stubbornly moved closer.
He saw me take the money from the campus belle and immediately tried to snatch my phone.
“Zhou Ruo, our main focus should be studying right now. You shouldn’t hang out with those shady people.”
The campus belle, whom he’d just called a goddess, turned around, her eyes cold, returning to her usual expression.
“Who are you calling shady?”
Yang Chen choked, at a loss for words. I shook off his arm.
How had I never noticed before that Yang Chen was such a bully to the weak and coward before the strong?
Yang Chen still wanted to say something, but the bell rang, and I skipped back to my seat.
That very day, the campus belle used the power of money to seat me next to Qin Yu.
“Teacher, my brother is a special case. He’s here mainly to make friends. Zhou Ruo would be a perfect friend for him.”
“And with the weather getting hotter, I think our school needs some air conditioners.”
The teacher fell silent.
When I moved to sit next to Qin Yu, he was still lying down asleep.
Yang Chen turned his head from the side to glare at me, as if his gaze could burn a hole through me.
I stared at Qin Yu’s neck for an entire period.
He was clearly awake, but to avoid being deskmates with me, he didn’t even lift his head. How amusing.
