Chapter 6
I haven’t dreamt about the past in a long time.
Upon waking, I felt groggy. Even after drinking two cups of warm water, my throat still faintly ached.
The knock on the door broke the silence in the room.
Opening the door, I was unexpectedly greeted by Jiang Huaixu.
I was somewhat startled, “Why are you…”
“Didn’t you want the pen?”
His tone was quite unpleasant as he interrupted me, tossing the black fountain pen into my arms.
I was taken aback and hurriedly caught the pen.
I had always carefully kept this pen, but now it had several new cracks.
I pressed my lips together and still managed to thank him.
The room fell silent once more.
“An Qin, is there nothing else you want to say to me?” He sighed lightly, and without waiting for my consent, stepped inside.
“Moving out without telling me, shouldn’t you apologize?”
“Sorry, Young Master Jiang.”
My voice was soft, but my response was straightforward.
Yet Jiang Huaixu’s expression turned cold.
He glanced around the tiny room, his gaze seemingly capable of burning a hole through me.
“Leaving a perfectly good house to live in a place like this, without even a decent table.”
“Aunt Zhang said you didn’t take any of the things I bought for you.”
“An Qin, you’ve been acting strange these past two days.”
“Has nothing really happened?”
For a moment, I almost thought he had guessed something.
If he knew about the existence of that secret contract, my departure might not go smoothly.
I clenched my palm, meeting his suspicious gaze.
“No, it’s just that I don’t want to trouble you and Miss Lin.”
“Really?”
The doubt in his eyes didn’t diminish, but when his gaze fell on the lingering red marks on my hand, it softened a bit.
“An Qin, I-”
The ringing of his phone interrupted him again.
His expression changed, and he swallowed the words he was about to say.
“Forget it.”
“I’m really busy these days. It’s good that staying here won’t trouble me.”
“Once I’m done with the engagement matters, I’ll accompany you to see the puppy.”
