Take Me Away, My Love - Chapter 31 - The Purchase
The appearance of Li Minchun was undoubtedly the highlight of the entire auction.
She seemed like a dark horse, suddenly emerging at the venue, and before long, she had outshone everyone present.
By the end, when others had surrendered, Li Minchun stood alone at the top, spending a significant amount to buy all the shares of the Shiyu Conglomerate Group.
To others, this seemed like a wealthy person’s frivolous play of spending without purpose, but to Li Minchun, it was a very worthy investment.
Facing the numerous media reporters, Li Minchun wore a faint smile and said, “Dear reporter friends, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to attend this auction of the Shiyu Conglomerate. Thanks to your courtesy, I have finally come out on top and acquired all the shares of the Shiyu Conglomerate. From today, the ownership of the Shiyu Conglomerate will change.”
“Ms. Su, excuse my boldness, but I have never heard of you before. You seem so young; surely, you must have a mentor guiding you. Could you tell us who that might be?”
Unable to contain their curiosity, some reporters immediately began to question her.
Throughout this scene, Li Minchun maintained her smile without responding.
Other reporters quickly followed up with more questions: “Ms. Su, could you give us a hint?”
“Yes, Ms. Su…”
When the questions had almost subsided, Li Minchun finally said, “I’m sorry, but today I can’t reveal any information to you. However, rest assured, one day the truth will come to light.”
After that, Li Minchun turned to leave, refusing to answer any further questions from the reporters.
After leaving, she sent a message to Jian Yiqing using her phone: “Chief, wait at the villa; I have a surprise for you.”
After sending the message, regardless of how Jian Yiqing might react, Li Minchun headed straight to the nursing home.
Finding Jian Gangchen wasn’t difficult, after all, another person of his stature in this nursing home would be hard to find.
It wasn’t long before the nursing home’s sweet-faced nurse led Li Minchun to the door of a high-end ward.
The high-end ward looked distinctly different from the standard ones, not only in decor but also in being located on a higher, more peaceful floor.
“This is the place.” The nurse carefully peeked inside, confirming that the patient’s vital signs were as stable as before, and then left.
After all, Li Minchun had already shown her credentials beforehand, so even if anything were to happen to Jian Gangchen, they could quickly find Li Minchun to get an explanation.
Li Minchun gently pushed the door open and saw Jian Gangchen lying quietly in bed, his body connected to numerous tubes.
To be honest, if it weren’t for Jian Yiqing, Li Minchun wouldn’t have even spared a glance at this man. His inherent arrogance and uniquely beastly demeanor were particularly repulsive.
Now, approaching him, she saw him lying motionless on the white hospital bed, his eyes closed. The various monitoring machines around him emitted their characteristic, oppressive sounds.
These sounds were a reminder that he was still alive.
Li Minchun glanced at the instruments, a slight smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.
“Jian Gangchen, would you like me to take you to see someone?” Li Minchun whispered softly in his ear. Soon, she noticed that Jian Gangchen had a slight reaction, with his fingers beginning to move slightly.
It was unclear whether this was his state beforehand or a response to Li Minchun’s presence today. But that didn’t matter anymore. A faint smile lingered on Li Minchun’s lips as she brought in a wheelchair and directed other caregivers to lift Jian Gangchen onto the chair.
It wasn’t that Li Minchun lacked the strength. With her physical capability, handling someone like Jian Gangchen was no challenge.
However, seeing this man brought back memories of his past misdeeds, making her unwilling to touch him.
As Li Minchun pushed the wheelchair outside, she unexpectedly bumped into a woman wearing a veil, her figure wrapped up quite thoroughly.
Even though the woman was successfully disguised, Li Minchun immediately recognized her as Liu Yuanyuan.
“Who are you? Where are you taking him?” Liu Yuanyuan asked warily upon seeing Li Minchun.
Li Minchun chuckled softly and said, “I’m working for Jian Yiqing.”
At the mention of Jian Yiqing’s name, Liu Yuanyuan’s eyes, once filled with doubt, suddenly brightened.
Well, that’s fortunate.
It seemed she wouldn’t need to take action herself.
The feud between Jian Yiqing and Jian Gangchen was well-known.
However, now one had become a vegetative patient and the other wanted to take him away. Even without any speculation, it was clear that Jian Gangchen’s future would likely be quite bleak.
Remembering the hardships she had suffered at Jian Gangchen’s hands, Liu Yuanyuan felt a rush of excitement. She waved her hand and said, “Move along quickly.”
Li Minchun, aware of Liu Yuanyuan’s thoughts, naturally said nothing further. She pushed Jian Gangchen out of the nursing home.
Meanwhile, at the villa, Jian Yiqing was still waiting.
After receiving the text message earlier, he had returned. He was curious about what kind of surprise that woman might have in store for him.
If this were in the midst of some confrontation, he might have suspected that the woman intended to seduce him as part of a deliberate strategy. Strangely, though, when it came to Su Xin, he did not harbor such suspicions.
Moreover, upon receiving the message earlier, he found himself filled with anticipation, hoping it would genuinely meet his expectations.
“Ding dong!”
At that moment, the doorbell finally rang.
Eagerly, Jian Yiqing quickly got up to answer the door. His haste even surprised the housekeeper.
What was happening? How had the normally composed man transformed into this?
At the door, Li Minchun’s smiling face appeared as expected. Without waiting for Jian Yiqing to ask, she had already wheeled a wheelchair right in front of him.
Upon seeing the face in the wheelchair, Jian Yiqing’s face, which had been full of anticipation, suddenly turned dark and stormy, like a clouded sky threatening rain.
“Why is he here?” Jian Yiqing frowned.
Li Minchun responded, “Because he has no family left and owes a massive debt to the hospital. Back when the company was still around, some old employees occasionally helped look after him. But now that we’ve acquired the company, no one is willing to take care of him.”
As she spoke, Li Minchun wheeled Jian Gangchen inside and continued, “I’ve settled all his outstanding bills with the hospital, so they were more than happy to let me take him out. The wheelchair was a complimentary gift from the hospital-quite good quality, actually.”
Li Minchun seemed more interested in checking out the wheelchair, as if she was not there to bring Jian Yiqing his father, but rather to deliver him a wheelchair.
“And what makes you think I’d be inclined to accept this so-called gesture of goodwill? Or rather, how did you figure out my intentions?” Jian Yiqing questioned sharply, as if Li Minchun had wronged him in some way.
Li Minchun shrugged and said nonchalantly, “Chief, wouldn’t you want to do something about your enemy? I was merely guessing your thoughts.”
“You’re too clever for your own good.”
Jian Yiqing’s expression turned cold as he prepared to kick Li Minchun and the old man out.
But when Jian Gangchen’s eyes began to open slightly, a different smile appeared on Jian Yiqing’s lips. Perhaps he had come up with a better plan.
Seeing the smile on Jian Yiqing’s face, Li Minchun knew she had done the right thing this time.
