I looked at the evil-warding amulet hanging around my great-grandfather’s neck. Just a couple of days ago, I had given one to Chi Rui, who then passed it on to him.

When I lifted my head and saw the moonlight, it suddenly occurred to me that perhaps the reason the female ghost was so formidable today was because she had absorbed the moonlight.

This could also explain why she didn’t attack us when we were inside the room earlier.

Once Chi Rui reached the doorway, I grabbed his collar and pulled him inside. After my great-grandfather’s last foot stepped onto the floor, I quickly shut the door.

The situation now was similar to the beginning, but my state of mind was completely different.

Chi Rui pulled me behind a cabinet, observing the surroundings while asking in a deep voice, “After all the effort to get out, why did you come back?”

Time was of the essence, so I couldn’t explain too much. I simply whispered, “Do you trust me?”

Chi Rui frowned, staring at me for a full minute before slowly nodding his head.

Gaining his trust settled my nerves significantly. I quickly shared my plan with Chi Rui, then glanced around.

As expected, upon returning to the room, the great-grandfather, now possessed by the female ghost, had quieted down considerably and seemed to have hidden somewhere.

This confirmed my suspicion that the female ghost’s power was significantly reduced without the moonlight, which was fortunate for us.

After I had explained everything to Chi Rui, he grasped the peachwood sword in his hand and stepped out, calling out, “Great-grandfather? Where are you? Don’t hide, I’m here to see you!”

There was still no movement around us. I signaled with my eyes for Chi Rui to keep going, and he continued to shout.

Suddenly, a dark shadow swiftly passed behind Chi Rui. My eyes lit up, and I signaled him; indeed, Chi Rui shouted even louder.

Seizing the opportunity, as the shadow slowly approached Chi Rui, I leapt from the corner, drew the copper coin sword, and fiercely struck the great-grandfather.

The great-grandfather screamed in pain, his voice unmistakably that of a woman.

I shook my head. To force the female ghost out of my great-grandfather’s body, we had to use this violent approach. It’s not like using a gentle method would make the female ghost appreciate my kindness and leave on her own.

Because I was so forceful, it didn’t take long before my great-grandfather collapsed to the ground. Chi Rui quickly helped him up and laid him back on the bed.

I took out black dog blood, sprinkled it over my great-grandfather, then circled the bed with red string, and finally affixed talisman paper to his forehead and arms.
