Chapter 148
Chapter 148
The evening breeze rose abruptly, and the night was thick as ink.
A Maybach passed silently by the Xie Family Old Mansion before finally heading in the direction of Qingcheng Villa.
Xie Qiyan was taking his newlywed wife back to their wedding home.
Xia Wanzhi sat in the passenger seat, her fingers picking at her seat belt as her imagination began to run wild.
They had clearly already eaten and showered over at Lanting Bieyuan. She had even prepared herself for their wedding night. Who could have guessed that just as she was about to climb into bed and pull up the covers, Xie Qiyan would scoop her right back out, dress her, and take her downstairs?
He said it was for good luck tonight, and that they should sleep in their wedding room.
Xia Wanzhi could not quite figure it out.
Wasn’t sleep just sleep no matter where they did it?
At the intersection on Qingcheng Road, a familiar Rolls-Royce brushed past Xie Qiyan’s Maybach.
Xie Qiyan’s phone kept vibrating. Every message was a post-work report from Yu Fei.
Arranging the wedding room was part of the job, so Huo Yang and Yu Fei were driving their boss’s distinguished Rolls-Royce.
In the passenger seat, Yu Fei flipped his phone around and chattered nonstop. “These days, being worked like a corporate mule is exhausting enough, but now we have to be force-fed public displays of affection too. Fine, we ate the dog food, whatever, but after work we even get temporarily dispatched to decorate the wedding room!”
Huo Yang: “…”
Yu Fei pressed a finger to his philtrum. “For single dogs like us, this is practically one of the top ten tortures! Did you see that just now? President Xie’s car just drove by. His esteemed self is taking his newlywed wife down the road to happiness, while the two of us still have to go back and prepare the materials for tomorrow’s meeting! Where is the justice in this world?”
Huo Yang: “…”
Yu Fei was still going on and on. “Being ordered to decorate the wedding room after work-if we don’t get a bonus for this, it would be an insult to our sacrifice. But tell me, why would President Xie only give us instructions for something this important at the last minute?”
Only after a long while did Huo Yang make a sound. “No idea.”
Yu Fei stroked his chin. “My guess is President Xie has no experience. He wasn’t sure whether they were supposed to move into the wedding room after the wedding ceremony or right after getting the marriage certificate. He must have been torn over it for ages!”
Huo Yang glanced at him, that look full of meaning. “What, does Mule Yu have a lot of experience?”
Yu Fei’s smile turned faintly sleazy. “I may not have eaten pork, but haven’t I seen a pig run? There aren’t many Executive Assistants as thoughtful as me.”
The light happened to turn red, and Huo Yang slammed on the brakes. “What did you do?”
A bad premonition quietly rose in his heart.
Yu Fei was nearly thrown out of his body by the powerful lurch. After cursing, he answered, “What else? Obviously things newlyweds would like.”
Huo Yang: “…”
He could only pray that tomorrow, he would not be killed by their boss’s gaze.
Inside Qingcheng Villa, Xia Wanzhi’s pupils contracted when she saw that the entire place had been decorated in a festive, jubilant red from top to bottom.
Looking at the completely transformed home, Xia Wanzhi swallowed. “This… When did you have it decorated?”
“Tonight.” Xie Qiyan had indeed agonized for a long time over whether they should move into the wedding room tonight. It was not until night fell that he finally made up his mind and instructed Yu Fei and Huo Yang to bring people over for an emergency setup.
Because time was tight, Yu Fei and Huo Yang had directly brought in a team from a wedding planning company.
Xie Qiyan had chosen the decoration plan himself. After giving the room a simple sweep with his eyes, he was fairly satisfied.
“Happy newlywed life.” Xie Qiyan curled a lock of Xia Wanzhi’s hair around his finger, his voice slightly hoarse. “Mrs. Xie.”
This was already the eighth time he had congratulated her.
“Same to you, same to you.” Stepping into the wedding room inexplicably gave Xia Wanzhi the feeling that she had entered a wolf’s den and was about to be skinned, deboned, and devoured clean. She pressed her lips together, pretending to be calm. “Why did you suddenly have it decorated? We haven’t even held the wedding yet…”
“I couldn’t wait.” Without allowing any argument, Xie Qiyan lifted her by the waist and strode straight upstairs, heading directly for the bedroom Xia Wanzhi had lived in since childhood.
Now, it was their wedding room.
Xia Wanzhi’s heart pounded chaotically, and her breathing grew a little heavier. The instant her feet left the floor, it was as if fireworks exploded in her mind.
Both of them knew the purpose of this trip.
Xia Wanzhi closed her eyes to ease her panic.
This made her even more nervous than when they were at Lanting Bieyuan.
“Open the door for me, My Lady Wife.” Xie Qiyan held her in his arms. Catching sight of the flush rising over her ears, he looked at her with a faint, teasing smile. “My hands are full.”
Technically, he could.
But this door-he wanted Xia Wanzhi to open it.
Knowing he was up to no good, Xia Wanzhi shot him a reproachful look, then placed her slender fingers on the handle and turned it down.
The door swung open. Inside, the mood lighting was already on, romantic to the extreme. Balloons floated all over the room, and rose petals covered the floor.
On the red bedding sat a pair of pink pig plushies, one in a suit and the other in a wedding dress. Below them, two sets of red pajamas were folded neatly.
Xia Wanzhi’s lashes trembled.
Xie Qiyan’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly.
On the bedside table, two unopened little square boxes with different functions stood quietly side by side.
The words “three-in-one” were far too eye-catching.
The heat had been turned on in the room long ago, and a fine layer of sweat broke out across Xia Wanzhi’s back.
Xie Qiyan narrowed his eyes slightly, then suddenly let out a low laugh, lingering and seductive. “Do you like it?”
“Wh-wh-wh… what?” Xia Wanzhi stammered, nearly choking on her own saliva.
Xie Qiyan set her down on the bed and leaned over her, one knee planted beside her. Unhurriedly, he said, “The bridal chamber decorations. Is Teacher Wanzi satisfied?”
Xia Wanzhi couldn’t take the scorching intensity of his gaze. Even his breath felt hot against her. In a panic, she shut her eyes and pushed at the chest pressing closer. “S-satisfied… As long as you’re satisfied…”
“I’m very satisfied.” Xie Qiyan’s warm fingertips lifted a lock of her hair. “Why won’t Teacher Wanzi open her eyes and look at me?”
Xia Wanzhi was just about to open them.
“Am I not good-looking enough tonight?” A touch of grievance colored Xie Qiyan’s voice. “Or is it that now you’ve got me, you’ve lost interest?”
Xia Wanzhi: “…”
Xie Qiyan’s smile deepened. He leaned to her ear, his voice almost a whisper of breath. “But Teacher Wanzi hasn’t gotten me yet. How could you possibly lose interest?”
Xia Wanzhi: “…”
“Do you want to have me?” Xie Qiyan gave a short laugh.
Xia Wanzhi’s eyes flew open.
If she couldn’t see him and touch him with her own eyes and hands, she would seriously suspect this shameless show-off was not Xie Qiyan at all.
When Xia Wanzhi glared at him in embarrassed fury, Xie Qiyan reined in his smile and reverently brushed a featherlight kiss between her brows. “You may enjoy me now, My Lady Wife.”
Xia Wanzhi tried her best to remain dignified. “Actually, I’m not in a hurry.”
“I am.” Xie Qiyan straightened and took off his coat.
Xia Wanzhi subconsciously bit her lip. Her fingertips brushed the smooth fabric of the pajamas beside her, and she hurriedly threw them to Xie Qiyan. “You need to change into pajamas, right? Go on, change. I’ll go change too.”
“We’re going to take them off anyway, so whether we change or not-”
Before he could finish, Xia Wanzhi hugged the pajamas to her chest and slipped into the dressing room.
The dressing room was inside the bedroom, separated by a sliding door.
Xie Qiyan arched a brow, then changed into the red pajamas right there in just a few swift motions.
Naturally, he had to listen to his wife.
He began to look forward to seeing his newlywed wife in red pajamas.
Ten minutes passed, and the dressing room door still hadn’t opened. Xie Qiyan approached and placed his broad palm against it. “Wanzi?”
No response.
“Mrs. Xie?” Xie Qiyan assumed she was too embarrassed to come out.
Still no movement.
“My Lady Wife?”
No one answered.
Xie Qiyan frowned slightly. With his palm against the door, he slid it open with a rasp.
What entered his sight was the vivid, alluring image of a young woman with bare shoulders.
But he only got one glance before Xia Wanzhi hurriedly wrapped herself in a black coat.
Xia Wanzhi glowered at him.
Xie Qiyan understood at once and clicked his tongue. “I didn’t expect… Mrs. Xie’s pajamas to be so very different from mine.”
Xia Wanzhi: “…”
More than very different.
The one Xie Qiyan wore didn’t show his waist or legs. Hers, on the other hand, was a red drawstring camisole.
“You’re still laughing-” Xia Wanzhi snapped at him fiercely. “President Xie, you sure know how to play, huh? Then what were you pretending to be so reserved for before…?”
“Now that I have an official title, of course there’s no need to pretend anymore.” Xie Qiyan strode in on those long legs of his and scooped her straight up. His fingers hooked her coat away in passing as he lifted his unbelievably, explosively charming and adorable little wife into his arms. “It’s late, Mrs. Xie. Let’s play something fun.”
Xia Wanzhi shivered.
