Six Years Later: Wrecking His World with Quadruplets - Chapter 215
Chapter 215
On Nan Zhiyi’s side, the group was still a bit shaken on their way back.
After driving for a while, Lin Zhizhi, who was sitting in the back seat, patted her chest as if she had just come to her senses. She murmured, “That really scared the life out of me. The scene back in the private room… my heart almost jumped out of my chest! But compared to that Ling Muye… why do I feel like the President is even more terrifying?”
“At that moment, I really suspected he was going to kill Ling Muye!”
“But I have to say, the President is really so handsome. Oh my god, my legs feel weak just thinking about it…”
After saying that, she seemed to remember something and quickly grabbed the headrest of the driver’s seat to explain to Nan Zhiyi. “Zhiyi, please don’t misunderstand. I don’t have any inappropriate thoughts about the President; I’m just expressing my admiration! My vocabulary is just a bit limited…”
Watching the nearly hysterical Lin Zhizhi, Sheng Shiyu couldn’t help but laugh, offering a rare word of agreement. “He was indeed very handsome. That overwhelming, oppressive aura he had when he took action really does make one’s legs go weak… Di Shijing finally did something good! I’ll grudgingly improve my opinion of him a little tonight!”
“Was our President not good before?” Lin Zhizhi asked curiously, leaning over the back of the seat.
Sheng Shiyu grumbled, “If he were good, would the two of them have gotten a divorce? Di Shijing used to be a total scumbag!”
Nan Zhiyi found their exchange quite amusing.
She was truly impressed by these two.
However, she had to admit that Di Shijing’s actions tonight had caused quite a stir in her heart as well.
Because she had never imagined that one day, that man would appear right when she needed him most and protect her so fiercely.
Scenes from earlier flashed through her mind…
Every frame featured Di Shijing!
That handsome, cold, and hard profile; his tall, imposing figure that provided such a sense of security; that frightening yet captivating aura of danger; the ruthlessness he displayed time and again…
The more she thought about it, the more she couldn’t help but fall for it. Nan Zhiyi’s heart began to race for some inexplicable reason.
She couldn’t help but clutch her chest, silently scolding herself, “Nan Zhiyi, this is all an illusion. Don’t let yourself be bewitched!”
Since Sheng Shiyu had been drinking, Nan Zhiyi dropped her off first, followed by Lin Zhizhi, before finally heading home.
When she walked through the door, Hengheng and Wanwan ran over to greet her as usual.
“Mommy, Mommy!”
The two little ones hugged Nan Zhiyi’s legs, rubbing against her affectionately.
“Hiss-”
Nan Zhiyi gasped in pain and reached down to gently pull Hengheng away from her leg.
Hengheng looked up, his small face filled with confusion and concern. “What’s wrong, Mommy?”
Nan Zhiyi wanted to know too.
She lifted her pant leg and discovered a large bruise on her knee.
She must have hit it somewhere during the fight.
However, while she was at the club, she hadn’t felt a thing…
Her grandparents came over from the living room. Seeing that Nan Zhiyi was injured, their hearts immediately tightened with worry. “What happened? How did you get hurt?”
Nan Zhiyi quickly lowered her pant leg and smiled as if nothing were wrong, reassuring them, “I move around a lot while doing research; I probably just bumped into something without noticing. Don’t worry, I’ll just spray some medicine on it after my shower later.”
The two little ones and her grandparents asked several more times, only relaxing once they were sure she was truly fine.
…
On Di Shijing’s side, it was already eleven o’clock at night by the time he finished his business engagement.
After leaving the club, he went straight to the Old Mansion.
At this hour, Old Master Di had long since gone to bed.
However, the elderly man was a light sleeper. Hearing the commotion, he woke up.
Coming downstairs, he saw Di Shijing entering the living room and asked him a question.
“Why are you here at this hour?”
As soon as the question left his mouth, something felt off. “Wait, shouldn’t you still be abroad? Why are you back early? Weren’t you supposed to return tomorrow?”
Di Shijing glanced at Old Master Di and replied calmly, “The business was finished, so I came back early.”
“If that’s the case, why didn’t you go to your own place? Why run over here? Do you have any idea what time it is? You’re disturbing a man’s sleep.”
Old Master Di sat down on the sofa and yawned, looking at his grandson with a face full of disdain. “And look at you, reeking of alcohol.”
Ignoring his grandfather’s disapproval, Di Shijing went straight to the seat opposite him and sat down. His handsome face was etched with exhaustion.
He raised a hand to massage his temples and said to Old Master Di, “I came over tonight because there’s something I need to tell you.”
“What is it?”
Old Master Di poured himself a glass of warm water, took a sip, and asked.
Di Shijing got straight to the point. “Over the past few days, I looked into Nan Zhiyi’s time abroad.”
At the mention of Nan Zhiyi, Old Master Di perked up. “Tell me, what did you find?”
Di Shijing gave a brief overview of the situation.
After listening, Old Master Di fell into a thoughtful silence. “The children died at birth? That’s what the hospital records say?”
Di Shijing nodded, his voice heavy. “Yes.”
Old Master Di’s mind wandered, his heart filled with doubt.
How could the hospital have such records? The children were clearly alive and well. What exactly was going on?
The more Old Master Di thought about it, the more confused he became. Before he could straighten out his thoughts, Di Shijing asked, “Is this what you wanted me to investigate before?”
“Did something happen when you went to Nan Zhiyi’s place that day? Or did she mention something to you?”
Hearing his grandson’s questions, Old Master Di hesitated. After a moment of internal struggle, he shook his head.
He decided not to tell him the news that the other two children were still alive for now.
The matter was too complicated and messy; he needed further confirmation.
After a pause, Old Master Di simply said, “I did indeed hear rumors about the existence of two other children…”
Di Shijing didn’t suspect anything, assuming it was exactly as he had guessed.
He remained silent for a long time before speaking in a husky voice, “It’s my responsibility that those two children are gone. It’s my… fault. I failed her. It must have been incredibly difficult for her to lose her children back then.”
Hearing this, Old Master Di looked at him as if he were a rare specimen. He teased with a hint of novelty, “Oh? So you’re actually feeling sorry for the Girl?”
He had thought his grandson was a lost cause, destined to be a block of wood for the rest of his life.
Di Shijing didn’t answer immediately. After another long silence, he slowly nodded. “Yes…”
He admitted it-his heart ached for her!
Old Master Di hadn’t expected him to be so cooperative tonight. He felt a sense of relief. “You’ve finally seen the light. It wasn’t easy!”
He shook his head and sighed. “Since that’s the case, treat her well from now on. Listen to me; you can’t go wrong.”
Di Shijing inclined his head in agreement.
It was late, and Old Master Di’s body couldn’t handle staying up much longer. He didn’t say anything more and soon headed back to rest.
Before leaving, he didn’t forget to remind him, “Don’t go running around anymore tonight. Just stay here and get some proper rest. Look at the dark circles under your eyes! As for Little Nan’s situation, don’t overthink it. You’re both young; there’s still time for everything!”
Di Shijing didn’t refuse. When he went upstairs, he stopped by to check on the two children before returning to his room to sleep.
