Seven Years of Lies, I Ruined His Life - Chapter 28
I was stunned.
It had been so long that I had forgotten many of the details.
If I had to recall anything.
One was that bowl of wontons, and the other was Guan Qin’s face-how she was pitifully thin but still had a sunny smile.
Guan Qin was the least favored child in her family.
Yu Qing and I had failed our college entrance exams.
But Guan Qin had been accepted into a good university, only to be forced by her parents to go out and work to earn money.
And the money she earned was completely squeezed out of her by them.
“It’s really hard for someone who has been suppressed for over a decade to suddenly learn to stand up,” she said.
“But then I met you. That was the happiest time of my life.”
“But tell me.”
“Why is it that when our lives clearly got better, things somehow got worse again?”
Guan Qin held her water glass.
Her emotions were calm, but her voice trembled slightly.
My mouth opened. I wanted to ask her why she said things got worse, but I couldn’t bring myself to ask.
Guan Qin was silent for a moment.
Just as she was about to speak, the door of the wonton shop was pushed open from the outside.
I subconsciously looked over.
Guan Qin also turned her head.
I thought it was the man from before, but I never expected it to be Yu Qing.
And I certainly never expected Yu Qing to greet Guan Qin with a smile.
