Seven Years of Lies, I Ruined His Life - Chapter 21
Taking Guan Qin to the company was a rather impromptu decision.
But it turned out to be opportune.
The afternoon meeting was very important.
The company was on the verge of closing a big deal.
The client, Mr. Yang, valued character above all else. During our previous conversations, he had even mentioned Guan Qin.
He had heard from somewhere that Guan Qin and I started from scratch and now had a harmonious and happy marriage.
He and his wife were the same.
They had weathered all storms together over the years.
Guan Qin met Mr. Yang briefly.
On the way to the company, I had explained the stakes to her.
“Even though we’re divorced, we have a son together.”
“The money I’m making now is for our son.”
I said it with righteous confidence.
Guan Qin listened.
The meeting went smoothly, and the contract was signed without a hitch.
In the evening, I had my secretary pick up our son and bring him to the restaurant.
Mr. Yang’s wife also joined us for dinner.
During the meal.
They looked at our son, their faces full of emotion.
“We were too focused on money back then. My wife had a miscarriage and didn’t rest properly, choosing to continue working with me. It left her with health problems.”
They didn’t have children of their own, but they had adopted several abandoned infants.
Guan Qin would occasionally respond to Mrs. Yang, mostly talking about children.
Just as I said, no matter how bad Guan Qin’s mood was, it was only ever directed at me.
Our son was best off with her.
