Chapter 9
Yu Jiaojiao stormed off in anger.
I laughed so hard in the carriage that I was practically rolling around.
“Hahahahahahaha.”
Hu Qing propped his head up and looked at me, “You’re really happy, huh?”
He really looked like a fox seeking praise, and I instinctively patted his head, “You did well this time.”
Hu Qing paused for a moment, then excitedly leaned in closer.
I was startled and quickly pushed him away.
With him acting so coy, who could resist?
“Jiang Ran, you need to thank me.”
I replied nonchalantly, “What do you want?”
He leaned in close to my face, staring at me without blinking.
“I want you to come with me. I’ll take you to Cloud Mist Mountain, where I have a palace built.”
He was so close that I could even feel his warm breath.
What is this little fox up to!
I was unusually flustered.
Stammering, I asked, “Why does it have to be me?”
Hu Qing smiled, “To me, you’re a treasure, and I need to hide you away.”
Pfft, I’m not some object!
Eh?
Something felt off.
Just as I was about to push him away, I heard the sound of hooves outside the carriage.
Fan Hui’s voice came from outside, “Jiang Ran, come out.”
His tone was quite unpleasant.
I decided not to go down.
“What does the general want?”
Fan Hui: “I just saw Mrs. Yu. She said you were sharing a carriage with a stranger.”
I looked at Hu Qing, somewhat speechless.
Fan Hui, oh Fan Hui, this is not a stranger; this is the person closest to your heart.
Fan Hui didn’t wait for my response, his tone deepening, “You are, after all, the general’s wife. How can you behave so scandalously?”
His words were truly harsh, and I suddenly got angry.
As he lifted the curtain to come in, I slapped him across the face.
Fan Hui was stunned on the spot.
I said in a deep voice, “Just because I haven’t lost my temper in years doesn’t mean I don’t have one. Fan Hui, you’re getting more and more audacious!”
Fan Hui remained silent outside the carriage for a long time.
Hu Qing transformed into a woman’s appearance and poked her head out the window.
“Oh dear, why is the general here?” Hu Qing feigned surprise, “I asked Sister Jiang to take me for a stroll in the street. Is the general worried?”
Fan Hui’s departing figure seemed somewhat like a hasty retreat.
After he left, Hu Qing asked me, “Do you want me to kill him for you?”
I looked at him in horror, “There’s really no need.”
