Chapter 17
I sat silently on the sofa, saying nothing.
He shuffled closer, reaching out to hold my hand.
“Shenshen, please don’t stay quiet, okay? I’d rather you yell at me, hit me.”
As he spoke, he grabbed my hand and slapped it against his own face.
Ah, yet another classic move-one that men across the world seem to master without any formal training.
I pulled my hand back from his grip, then suddenly leaned forward and threw myself into his arms.
His body stiffened.
Clutching his shirt, I nestled against his shoulder like a fragile bird.
And then, I started sobbing.
As I cried, I pounded my fists lightly against his chest.
“Liang Chen, how can you be so foolish?”
“How much courage must it have taken for you to say all of this?”
“I hate you. Why does it have to be you? And if it is you, why do you have to treat me so well, making me… making me fall for you?”
“What am I supposed to do now?”
The moment those insincere words left my mouth, I almost disgusted myself.
But to Liang Chen, those words were everything.
He held me tightly.
His voice, too, carried a hint of a sob. “You’re the foolish one, silly. But don’t worry, Shenshen.”
“I won’t let them hurt you again.”
With that, he handed me a stack of documents.
What I didn’t expect was that these documents contained exactly the information I had been searching for all along.
It turned out that the Munich company Gu Yan had been dealing with was nothing more than a shell company.
The real legal owner behind it was none other than Gu Yan himself.
And according to the documents, this shell company had been set up with the help of Hu Feier.
In just a few short months since joining the company, Hu Feier had even helped Gu Yan falsify the company’s accounts.
This information couldn’t have come at a better time.
