Chapter 97 - Stop Twisting, That's Not the Handlebar!
As the saying goes, “a drinker sways with the wind.”
The cool night breeze outside instantly sobered up Xia Xinya quite a bit. But after a moment, she felt even dizzier than before–her legs went weak, and she couldn’t walk at all. Leaning against Tang Huaijin, her cheeks flushed with a drunken blush, she slurred coquettishly, “Rascal, r-rascal, carry me.”
“You’re the one who drank so much,” Tang Huaijin scolded, but he still bent down gently and lifted the muddled girl onto his back.
He supported Xinya’s petite hips and hoisted her up a bit, grumbling, “Hold onto my neck.”
“Oh…” Drunk as she was, Xinya was surprisingly obedient. Hearing this, she sweetly wrapped her small arms around Tang Huaijin’s neck and giggled, “Rascal, taking advantage of me again.”
“Who wants to take advantage of you? A little brat with neither chest nor butt,” Tang Huaijin bickered with her as usual.
“Hmph.” Xinya let out two soft hums, looking quite pleased, and muttered, “I’m not little at all. You obviously like touching me, rascal.”
How come she says anything when she’s drunk? Tang Huaijin felt a little embarrassed and decided to ignore her, carrying her quickly toward the car.
But when they reached the car door, Xinya started acting up again, refusing to get in no matter what, complaining that it was stuffy inside.
The female bodyguard had already gotten out of the car. Hearing this, she looked at Tang Huaijin with an awkward expression, not knowing what to say.
It wasn’t too far from the Xia Family home. Tang Huaijin hesitated for a moment, then spotted a shared e-bike nearby, grabbed it, and said impatiently, “How about I ride this, okay?”
Xinya glanced at the bike with bleary eyes, nodded contentedly, and said, “This is good, let’s take this.”
Since shared e-bikes were designed for one person, Tang Huaijin settled the girl in front of him on the seat, then sat behind her himself and started riding slowly.
He turned to the female bodyguard and said softly, “You go on ahead. I’ll take her back.”
But the bodyguard looked troubled. “Y-young master, it’s not that I don’t trust you, I’m just afraid madam will blame me.”
“I’ll call Aunt Xia right now.” Tang Huaijin nodded, took out his phone, and dialed Mrs. Xia.
The phone rang a few times before it connected, and Mrs. Xia’s cool voice came through: “What is it?”
“Xinya got drunk and doesn’t want to sit in the car. I’m taking her back on an e-bike, just letting you know.”
“Xinya is drunk?” Xia Yunzhu’s voice instantly sharpened. “How is she now?”
“Relax, I haven’t done anything to your daughter.” Tang Huaijin rolled his eyes in exasperation and handed the phone to Xinya’s ear, saying, “Say something to your mom.”
Xinya pouted, stayed silent, and just hummed in response.
Tang Huaijin shot her a glare and snapped, “Say something, or I’ll throw you off.”
Xinya looked at him pitifully, then finally muttered reluctantly, “I’m fine.”
Tang Huaijin took back the phone and laughed, “Now you believe me, Mrs. Xia?”
Hearing her daughter’s voice, Xia Yunzhu finally relaxed a little. But hearing Tang Huaijin’s slightly cheeky tone, she frowned in displeasure and said coldly, “Don’t be so harsh with my daughter.”
Before Tang Huaijin could reply, Xinya protested, “You don’t need to worry about it. Don’t be harsh with my friend.”
What a devoted daughter you are.
Tang Huaijin couldn’t hold it in, and burst out laughing. Not wanting to offend his “superior,” he said, “Alright, I’m hanging up now. I’ll have her home soon.”
Xia Yunzhu was furious, but couldn’t say more–she didn’t want to upset her precious daughter, so she snorted coldly and hung up.
Tang Huaijin grinned smugly. This Mrs. Xia, knowing the principal was Bai Yuerou’s father, didn’t even tell him, just waiting to watch him make a fool of himself–how mean.
Xinya’s mischievous streak must have come from her.
“You can’t talk to Mom like that in the future, but just this once,” he lectured her seriously, then, as if to praise her, rubbed Xinya’s little head. She narrowed her eyes like a kitten, a hint of happiness at the corners of her lips.
“Sit tight, let’s go.” Tang Huaijin gently wrapped an arm around Xinya’s waist, turned the handlebar, and rode off with her down the road.
At first, Xinya was excited, squirming around restlessly. But with the chilly autumn wind blowing, she soon felt cold. Pulling at Tang Huaijin’s big hand, she whined, “Rascal, I’m cold.”
Girls always care about style over warmth–even this brat was no exception. It was almost winter, yet she was only wearing a thin sweatshirt.
Tang Huaijin stopped the bike, took off his suit jacket, and draped it over Xinya. But since the jacket only had a few buttons at the bottom, and Tang Huaijin was tall, the jacket looked like an overcoat on Xinya. Even buttoned up, it wasn’t too effective–cold wind still crept in through the collar.
After hesitating for a moment, he had Xia Xinya turn around and straddle him from the front, draping his suit jacket over her back. His arms slipped through the sleeves to grip the handlebars, and he whispered softly, “Hold on tight, I can’t hold you like this.”
“Oh…” Xia Xinya nestled herself into his embrace, nodding lightly, her small hands wrapped around his waist, her forehead buried in Tang Huaijin’s chest.
With this arrangement, the chilly autumn wind barely touched her, and Tang Huaijin’s warm embrace made Xia Xinya squint comfortably, her body wriggling slightly in a playful manner as she murmured, “So warm…”
In this position, Xia Xinya’s small bottom was nearly pressing against Tang Huaijin’s thighs. As she wriggled her body, rubbing against him a few times, Tang Huaijin gasped sharply, reprimanding, “Stop moving, or I’ll throw you off.”
“No way.” Xia Xinya wasn’t scared at all; instead, she deliberately wriggled like a caterpillar, giggling, “You just like to scare me; you wouldn’t actually throw me off.”
After a few twists, Xia Xinya suddenly felt something hard and uncomfortable. Her small hand instinctively reached down, complaining, “Why is there a handlebar here?”
…
Tang Huaijin’s face darkened, and he snapped, “That’s not a handlebar.”
“Hiss, stop twisting it, I told you that’s not a handlebar!”
Xia Xinya realized what was happening, her hand recoiling as if shocked, her cheeks instantly turning crimson with embarrassment and anger, “You, you pervert, disgusting!”
Tang Huaijin didn’t want to talk to her anymore; he was so angry he could almost pin Xia Xinya down and spank her.
Seeing him ignore her, Xia Xinya felt a bit upset, muttering, “How dare you treat me like this, I’ll tell Rou to break up with you.”
“Wasn’t it you who moved around?” Tang Huaijin was furious.
Hearing his words, Xia Xinya, emboldened by the alcohol, stammered with a persistent blush on her cheeks, “Why, why are you like this? I read in books that men react this way when they see a girl they like. Rascal, you, you don’t like me, do you?”
“In your dreams.” Tang Huaijin’s expression was awkward, and he retorted irritably, “It’s a normal physiological reaction, alright? All you do is read those silly books. Did those books ever tell you that tsundere girls usually don’t have good endings?”
“Hmph, you’re lying.” Xia Xinya protested, nudging his chest with her head, her gaze dimming as she lost interest in picking a fight, obediently resting against his chest.
The troublesome girl quieted down for a moment, then nestled into his embrace and fell asleep. Tang Huaijin arrived at the Xia Family’s villa entrance, looking at the peacefully sleeping Xia Xinya, resembling a small cat, and smiled helplessly.
Stopping the vehicle, Tang Huaijin didn’t wake her up, carrying her as he rang the Xia Family’s doorbell.
Soon, Xia Yunzhu, dressed in pajamas, opened the door, her eyebrows raising at their posture, about to speak.
“Shh.” Tang Huaijin quickly gestured for silence, mouthing, “She’s asleep.”
Xia Yunzhu gave him a complex look, nodded, and let him in.
Tang Huaijin didn’t bother changing into slippers, signaling Xia Yunzhu to lead the way as he carried her to her room.
Xia Yunzhu glanced disdainfully at his shoes, sighed helplessly, and led the way up the stairs to the second floor.
Mrs. Xia was wearing silk pajamas, the smooth fabric of her pants accentuating her shapely figure as she ascended the stairs.
Seemingly aware of the gaze from behind, Mrs. Xia suddenly turned around, her cold eyes shooting towards Tang Huaijin.
Tang Huaijin nonchalantly withdrew his gaze, even furrowing his brows as if questioning why she had stopped.
Mrs. Xia was so annoyed she gritted her teeth, huffing coldly as she quickened her pace up the stairs, pointing towards Xia Xinya’s room.
Tang Huaijin didn’t care whether Mrs. Xia was angry or not; his respect for her had long vanished with her pranks.
Arriving at Xia Xinya’s bedroom door, he gently placed the sleeping Xia Xinya on the bed, reaching to remove her flat shoes, intending to retrieve his suit jacket, only to find her small hand tightly clutching it, seemingly impossible to pull free without force.
Tang Huaijin shook his head helplessly, deciding to let her return it at school next time.
After tucking her in, Tang Huaijin, with a faint smile, lightly tapped her delicate nose, causing her to wrinkle her cute little nose in displeasure. Only then did he turn and leave the room.
