Chapter 95 - I Never Said I Didn't Like Him
“Hehe.” Bai Renli forced a strained smile, suppressing the anger in his heart as he handed the award certificate to him.
“Hehehe…” Tang Huaijin’s face displayed a smile more unsightly than crying, awkwardly saying, “Th-thank you, principal.”
Bai Renli didn’t bother with him further, not even offering a word of encouragement, turning instead to hand out certificates to others.
It was already generous enough to give him a certificate!
Faced with the pig that had taken his precious cabbage, not only couldn’t he blame him, but he also had to give him a certificate…
Can you imagine how heartbroken an old father could be?
Tang Huaijin understood as well.
Why did Xia Yunzhu’s smile seem so familiar? It was exactly the same as that mischievous girl’s gloating expression.
It’s just a pity that he realized it too late.
To be honest, the moment he saw Bai Renli, he had even thought of his last words.
The award ceremony finally ended, and Tang Huaijin walked off the stage expressionlessly, heading towards Bai Yuerou.
Bai Yuerou cautiously glanced at Tang Huaijin, apologetically saying, “Jin… I didn’t expect it to turn out like this…”
Tang Huaijin waved his hand, smiling bitterly, “It’s okay.”
This indeed wasn’t Bai Yuerou’s fault…
In his plan, he hadn’t intended for Bai Yuerou’s parents to find out.
But plans couldn’t keep up with changes.
Holding the somewhat scorching award certificate, Tang Huaijin followed the crowd out of the auditorium.
Seeing Xu Jingwen’s excited face at the entrance, Tang Huaijin’s mouth twitched.
Indeed, if the principal came to watch his daughter host, how could the principal’s wife not come?
Seeing her good son-in-law, Xu Jingwen’s face immediately bloomed with a smile, jogging over to the two of them, teasingly saying, “Jin, you young people really know how to play these romantic games.”
“Hehe…” Tang Huaijin didn’t know what to say, so he could only smile awkwardly.
“Mom!” Bai Yuerou blushed with embarrassment beside him.
Hearing no denial from the two, Xu Jingwen became even happier, smiling as she looked them over. Tang Huaijin in his indigo suit and Bai Yuerou in her white floor-length dress looked like a match made in heaven.
Seeing them like this, Xu Jingwen even started thinking of names for her future grandchildren, her smile widening.
Bai Renli, just out of the auditorium, saw this scene and felt even more aggrieved, walking over with a gloomy face, about to speak, but was scared back by a glare from his wife, standing aside with a forlorn expression, feeling that the autumn wind tonight was particularly bleak.
Xu Jingwen also knew this wasn’t the time to talk, so she smiled kindly at Tang Huaijin, saying, “We’ll head back first. Come over for a meal at your uncle and aunt’s when you have time.”
Tang Huaijin nodded, watching them leave, sighing silently. What should he do now…
But soon he had no time to ponder this question, as Lin Ruoxi and Xia Xinya were running over from a distance.
After hesitating for a moment, Tang Huaijin gently took Bai Yuerou’s hand.
Bai Yuerou was taken aback, knowing he was about to announce their relationship, her lips curling into a slight smile as she leaned a bit closer to him.
The two girls, each with different expressions, had just run over when they saw the two holding hands, their expressions instantly turning angry.
Before they could speak, Tang Huaijin softly said, “I know what you want to ask. Yes, we are together.”
Xia Xinya bit her lip, her face still carrying an incredulous expression, looking at Bai Yuerou and asking, “Rou, is this true?”
Bai Yuerou nodded slightly, smiling gently, “Yes, Xinya, I’m now Jin’s girlfriend.”
Xia Xinya’s rosy face immediately turned pale, a mix of sourness, sadness, and fear intertwining within her, making her nose tingle. After a moment of silence, she choked out, “Why…”
Seeing her like this, Tang Huaijin felt a bit panicked, reaching out to comfort Xia Xinya, only to have her push him away angrily, “Don’t touch me!”
Her eyes reddened as she looked at Tang Huaijin, saying each word clearly, “You liar, liar!”
With that, Xia Xinya’s tears could no longer be controlled, pushing Tang Huaijin away and running towards the school gate.
Tang Huaijin gritted his teeth, not having time to say a word to Bai Yuerou, hurriedly chasing after her.
Watching the two leave, Lin Ruoxi slowly retracted her gaze, looking at Bai Yuerou, sneering, “Bai Yuerou, your boyfriend left you for another girl.”
Bai Yuerou’s expression remained unchanged, softly saying, “It’s okay, we’re friends.”
“Ha, that’s really funny.” Lin Ruoxi laughed mockingly, saying, “Do you really think Xia Xinya only sees Tang Huaijin as a friend?”
Bai Yuerou smiled noncommittally, saying, “I’m more generous, and I trust Jin.”
“Rou, you must be joking, right? You’re pretending so well, stop kidding.” After glancing at Bai Yuerou, Lin Ruoxi suddenly laughed, saying, “You never said you liked my Jin.”
“No, I’m not joking. We really are together.” Bai Yuerou’s face also carried a faint smile, softly saying, “Besides, I never said I didn’t like my Jin.”
Lin Ruoxi’s smile slowly faded from her face, and she asked expressionlessly, “Then why did you help me? Bring me into the club, talk to me about Tang Huaijin, and counsel me?”
“I didn’t really help you. Although that was my initial thought, I gradually started liking him too,” Bai Yuerou said apologetically. “So everything I did was just to understand him better. You could say I used you. I’m sorry, Xi.”
“Heh, impressive, Bai Yuerou,” Lin Ruoxi sneered sarcastically. “Sneaky and deceptive. I’ve been guarding against that rascal Xia Xinya all along, but I overlooked you.”
“…” Bai Yuerou sighed and said, “But you haven’t managed to reconcile with him either, have you?”
Lin Ruoxi was taken aback, then laughed self-deprecatingly, asking, “So you’re the girl Jin likes?”
Seeing Bai Yuerou remain silent, Lin Ruoxi took it as an admission, feeling something was amiss. If Tang Huaijin liked Bai Yuerou, he could have told her and let her give up.
Even though she still doubted Bai Yuerou’s identity, Lin Ruoxi felt a wave of sadness, her eyes reddening slightly. Because regardless of whether it’s true, his actions represented his attitude towards her.
Seeing her like this, Bai Yuerou felt a pang of guilt and softly said, “I’m sorry, love can be cruel sometimes.”
“I don’t need your fake sympathy,” Lin Ruoxi bit her lip, her pride preventing her from showing weakness in front of a rival, and said coldly, “Don’t think you’ve won. I’ll ask him myself. I still have a chance.”
Bai Yuerou sighed with a complex expression and said, “There’s no chance…”
She knew in her heart that for Tang Huaijin to do such a thing for her, that woman must hold an unparalleled place in his heart.
… Truly enviable.
Hearing this, Lin Ruoxi assumed she was talking about herself, snorted coldly, shot her a frosty glance, and left the school.
Staying here to exchange harsh words with Bai Yuerou would only make her seem more like a loser.
She wouldn’t be foolish enough to confront Tang Huaijin’s current official girlfriend, otherwise, given Tang Huaijin’s character…
She would truly have no chance at all.
…
Xia Xinya ran out of the school gate crying, got into her family’s Bentley, and before she could close the door, Tang Huaijin pulled it open and got in with her.
Tang Huaijin tried to soothe Xia Xinya, speaking gently, “Xinya, listen to me.”
“I don’t want to hear it, liar, you’re all liars.” Xia Xinya’s face was tear-stained, and she pushed Tang Huaijin hard, trying to shove him out of the car. When she couldn’t move him, she opened the door and ran out, heading far away.
Sigh… Tang Huaijin was at his wit’s end, gave an apologetic look to the stunned female bodyguard, and followed her out of the car in pursuit.
Despite her small stature, she ran quite fast, and in the blink of an eye, she had covered a considerable distance.
Tang Huaijin sighed, feeling a pang of regret as he glanced at his one-hundred-thousand-yuan suit, gritted his teeth, and sprinted after her.
Xia Xinya seemed to be getting tired, slowing down gradually. Seeing Tang Huaijin catching up, she tried to run again.
But how could Tang Huaijin let her continue running? With a swift move, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.
Xia Xinya cried fiercely, struggling with all her might.
Tang Huaijin was at a loss, furrowing his brow. Seeing she was wearing jeans today, he wasn’t worried about her being exposed. He squatted down and hoisted her onto his shoulder, heading back to the Bentley.
A tall man carrying a crying, struggling girl was a scene hard not to misunderstand, and passersby turned to look.
Tang Huaijin spoke helplessly, “She’s my girlfriend, we’re having a spat, don’t misunderstand.”
Hearing this, Xia Xinya’s face turned red, but she didn’t deny it and stopped struggling, sobbing as she was carried.
Tang Huaijin felt relieved, thankful the rascal had some sense, otherwise, it could have been a real hassle.
Xia Xinya coughed twice from crying too hard, feeling embarrassed with everyone watching, and struggled, saying, “Put me down, rascal.”
“If I put you down, what if you run again?” Tang Huaijin said irritably, carrying her back to the Bentley, stuffing her inside, and sitting next to her, turning to report an address to the female bodyguard.
The female bodyguard looked at him with admiration, nodded, and drove straight to the destination without a word.
“I want to go home!” Xia Xinya protested, “Why are you listening to him?”
Tang Huaijin glared at her, saying fiercely, “Stop making noise, or I’ll spank you.”
“You only bully me,” Xia Xinya said more aggrievedly, pouting like a wronged child, but stopped causing a fuss and sat quietly beside him.
