Chapter 101 - Why Is This Outfit Smaller?
Since Tang Huaijin didn’t take the bus today, he arrived at the classroom before Xia Xinya, with Bai Yuerou quietly sitting in her seat reading a book.
Tang Huaijin sat down at his desk and chuckled, “Morning, Yuerou.”
Bai Yuerou was taken aback, seemingly surprised that Tang Huaijin arrived so early. After recovering, she closed the book in her hand, set it aside, and smiled softly, saying, “Morning, Jin. Why are you here so early today?”
“My manuscript fee came in a few days ago,” Tang Huaijin laughed. “So I bought my sister a car, and she drove me here this morning.”
Bai Yuerou nodded in realization. She had seen Tang Huaijin’s post on social media, where he shared a photo with his sister in the car. However, Tang Yaoyao posted the one where they were holding hands.
“Jin, you’re really impressive.” Bai Yuerou’s tone was full of admiration. Being able to buy a car for his sister at this age with his own abilities was truly commendable. She pulled out a copy of Tang Huaijin’s book from her drawer, looked at him with a smile, and said, “Great author, could you sign a copy for me?”
Tang Huaijin’s book had already been published, and Bai Yuerou naturally got her hands on a copy as soon as possible.
“Of course.” Tang Huaijin smiled gently, took out a pen, and was about to sign his name when Bai Yuerou stopped him.
Bai Yuerou bit her lip and whispered, “Technically speaking, we’re in a relationship now, right?”
Tang Huaijin was taken aback, paused for a moment, and said, “Yes…”
“Then could you…” Bai Yuerou’s face flushed red, and she stammered, “Could you write, ‘To my girlfriend’?”
Tang Huaijin glanced at her with a complex expression, nodded, and wrote her request on the front page, adding:
“You deserve all the beauty in the world.”
After signing, Tang Huaijin returned the book to Bai Yuerou.
Though it was just two sentences, Bai Yuerou looked at them for a long time, a hint of satisfaction in her eyes.
Tang Huaijin saw this and sighed inwardly. Bai Yuerou’s social media post had already expressed her thoughts.
“When you’ve seen all the splendor of the world, I’ll be with you, a quiet constant.”
He was about to say something when Bai Yuerou carefully put the book away, looked at Tang Huaijin, hesitated for a moment, and said, “Jin, my parents know about us. They want you to come over this weekend, as my boyfriend, for a meal.”
Seeing the hint of difficulty on his face, Bai Yuerou quickly added, “If you don’t want to come, I can refuse them. It’s okay.”
Tang Huaijin understood the significance of this meal. The fact that Yuerou’s parents were inviting him showed their attitude. Going would mean officially acknowledging his relationship with Bai Yuerou.
But if he didn’t go, Bai Yuerou would face considerable pressure.
Thinking of this, he nodded lightly and said, “Alright, I’ll come on Saturday.”
Bai Yuerou knew he was worried about her feeling pressured, so she smiled gently. Even though she knew Tang Huaijin had someone he liked, she couldn’t help but indulge in the happiness of being his girlfriend.
At that moment, Xia Xinya walked in from the back of the classroom with her small bag, feeling a bit displeased seeing the two sitting so close. She pouted and sat at her desk, took out a suit jacket from her bag, rolled it up, and handed it to him, saying playfully, “Here’s your lousy jacket back.”
“Hey, you rascal, this jacket is expensive, you know?” Tang Huaijin said irritably, reaching out to straighten the suit jacket. But after examining it for a couple of seconds, he frowned and asked, “Is this my jacket? Why does it seem smaller?”
“That’s because…” Xia Xinya’s expression froze, stammering, and then her eyes lit up as she explained, “Because it shrank a bit after washing. Hmph, aren’t you going to thank me?” The more she spoke, the more confident she became, her face showing a bit of smugness.
“Well, thank you indeed. Can this material be washed casually?” Tang Huaijin rolled his eyes, not thinking much of it, and said, “And isn’t washing borrowed clothes before returning them the basic courtesy?”
Bai Yuerou listened curiously from the side and asked, “Xinya, when did you borrow Jin’s clothes?”
Xia Xinya was momentarily speechless, “Well, it was…”
“It was Friday night. I took her out for barbecue,” Tang Huaijin said helplessly. “She complained about being cold, so I lent her my jacket.”
“Oh, alright.” Bai Yuerou nodded, then said with a hint of reproach, “Xinya, it’s almost winter, and you’re still wearing so little.”
Xia Xinya was still wearing light clothing today, just a pink knitted sweater for the fall and winter. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she stuck out her tongue and said playfully, “Okay, Rou, I’ll wear more from now on.”
Xia Xinya gradually realized she didn’t need to feel so guilty. She and the rascal were just friends, and she didn’t like him, so why feel guilty?
Besides, both Rou and the rascal had said that even if they were together, things would remain the same as before, so Rou wouldn’t be jealous of her and Tang Huaijin.
Understanding this, Xia Xinya regained her energy, playfully teasing Tang Huaijin, only to be flicked on the forehead by him, leaving her to complain to Rou.
After morning self-study, Tang Huaijin left the classroom and hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door of Shen Yiqiu’s office.
“Come in.” Shen Yiqiu’s tone seemed particularly cold today.
Tang Huaijin braced himself, pushed the door open, and walked in, looking at Shen Yiqiu, who was expressionless and reading a book. He said, “Teacher Shen, I’m here to get the handout.”
Shen Yiqiu didn’t even glance at him, saying indifferently, “Close the door.”
The inevitable had come. Tang Huaijin closed the door and proactively moved a chair to sit beside Shen Yiqiu.
Only then did Shen Yiqiu snort softly, her gaze moving from the book she hadn’t actually opened, coldly looking at Tang Huaijin, asking, “Explain.”
What kind of interrogation attitude is this? Isn’t Rose Elite High School supposed to allow students to date?
Tang Huaijin smiled wryly, “Explain what?”
Seeing him feign ignorance, Shen Yiqiu snorted coldly, her tone unusually angry, “What’s going on between you and Bai Yuerou? Public confession? Do you think teachers are fools? Was such a serious school anniversary gala meant for this?”
…The principal even gave me an award.
“…” After a moment of silence, Tang Huaijin decided to admit it directly, “Yes, Teacher, Bai Yuerou and I are together.”
He made this decision after considering it. There were too many people around him acting strangely. Although suspecting his teacher wasn’t ideal, it was better to nip any potential danger in the bud.
Shen Yiqiu looked at Tang Huaijin with extreme disappointment, her chest heaving with anger, saying furiously, “Didn’t I tell you not to date early? Why couldn’t you wait for me?!”
Tang Huaijin was stunned, his mouth agape, staring at Shen Yiqiu in disbelief.
Realizing her slip, Shen Yiqiu’s expression became slightly awkward, explaining, “I mean, why couldn’t you wait? It’s not too late to date after entering university.”
She advised earnestly, “Your current task isn’t dating. Dating will affect your studies. You’re a student with great expectations from your teachers. How can you indulge in such behavior?” Her tone became angry again towards the end.
Tang Huaijin replied sincerely, “Teacher, I believe my studies won’t be affected. You can see my next monthly exam results.”
Shen Yiqiu said coldly, “No, once affected, it’s already too late. You must stop your relationship with her now.”
Tang Huaijin sighed, looking at Shen Yiqiu with a complex expression, saying, “Besides, Rose Elite High School’s rules don’t prohibit dating. As far as I know, there are many openly dating couples in the school. Why are you specifically targeting me?”
“Can you tell me why, Shen-Jie?”
Hearing his double entendre, Shen Yiqiu’s expression froze, biting her lip as if hesitating about something. After a moment of silence, she said, “You’re sure you won’t break up?”
“I won’t break up,” Tang Huaijin replied firmly.
Shen Yiqiu squinted at him, saying softly, “Fine, then don’t leave after school today.”
Tang Huaijin: “…”
A hint of triumph flashed in Shen Yiqiu’s eyes as she said indifferently, “Wait for me. I’ll go to your house for a home visit and talk to your parents.”
…Are you serious?
Why call the parents?
Tang Huaijin said helplessly, “Alright, I’ll wait for you after school.”
He wasn’t afraid of this; his sister knew the situation.
Seeing his indifferent attitude, Shen Yiqiu felt a pang of frustration, turning her head away, not wanting to see his face. She tossed the handout to him, saying coldly, “Go back yourself.”
Tang Huaijin nodded, took the handout, and left the office.
After he left, Shen Yiqiu sighed, her expression showing a bit of grievance. Damn it, talking about liking seductive older sisters.
And you ended up finding a little sister?
