My Rival: The Twenty-Year-Old Me - Chapter 26
He stood at the door in a white shirt and jeans, looking uneasy and at a loss.
His eyes, however, couldn’t bear to miss a second of looking at me, and then they reddened.
He was young, handsome, clean, yet broken.
My heart shifted for a moment, beating incessantly.
It was hard to imagine how the twenty-year-old Eleanor Vance could completely reject him.
I slowly stepped forward and asked, “Why are you here?”
His tears suddenly began to fall.
Alexander Vance’s lips quivered as he asked me, “Eleanor, fifteen years later, can we really not be together?”
“Is it truly my fault?”
His voice was full of sincerity and caution.
My heart ached slightly.
I stood on tiptoe and kissed the corner of his mouth.
He was startled, delighted, and as he was about to embrace me, I stepped back.
I shook my head, “Alexander, it was you who stopped loving me first.”
“I stayed by your side for so many years, clearly there, yet you ignored me.”
He hunched over, sobbing uncontrollably, wiping his tears over and over.
His face was rubbed raw, and this tall man was fragile beyond belief.
I told him, “Go, disappear.”
It was also the last farewell to the past.
In an instant, his cold gaze was softer than the morning light, his tone like a feather gently falling, “Her name is Ellie, she’s the new intern at the company.”
Only then did I learn that Alexander Vance had suddenly passed away.
