Chapter 7
Genevieve, Jonathan, and I grew up together, practically like childhood friends.
The three of us lived in the same building and attended the same school when we were kids.
Jonathan was always the epitome of the perfect child in everyone else’s eyes.
Good looks, excellent grades, and a kind heart.
Helping elderly ladies cross the street and offering his seat to old gentlemen.
Back then, I was young, and the more my parents praised him, the more he annoyed me.
But being a sucker for good looks, I couldn’t help but stare at him, often making him blush.
Once I outgrew the childish phase and entered the age of budding romance, I did harbor a bit of a crush on him.
But he was so popular, I could only admire him from afar.
Even though he showed me some special attention, I chalked it up to our childhood friendship, especially since he later went abroad.
Now Genevieve tells me Jonathan married me.
This shock is akin to China making it to the World Cup.
In that fleeting moment, another question crossed my mind.
“Genny, Tommy is four and a half years old now, and I broke up with Gavin at 27, so Tommy is?”
Genevieve gave me a troubled look and said, “Back then, we had a falling out, and I could only get news about you from others. I heard… you and Jonathan were caught in bed by Gavin. As for Tommy, honestly, I don’t know.”
The sheer amount of information was overwhelming, and my brain was on the verge of overload.
So, I might have married Jonathan while pregnant with someone else’s child.
This thought made my vision go dark.
No wonder there were only traces of my life in the room; Jonathan must despise me.
If that’s the case, why did he agree to marry me?
“Wait a minute, Genny, Gavin cheated, so how could he catch me and Jonathan?”
Even if I were capable of such a thing, Jonathan isn’t that kind of person.
Genevieve said, “I don’t know the specifics. It seems Gavin wanted to break up with you first, but you refused, so he caught you with Jonathan and used it to his advantage.”
