Summary
I went to the airport in the early hours to pick up my boyfriend from a business trip. I hadn’t been in the car for half a month. The protection charm I’d given him had been replaced by a Hello Kitty charm made of fuse beads.
He smiled. “I made it when I was bored. It’s actually pretty fun.”
I smiled too. “She must be hard to keep happy, if you’re afraid to take it down even now you’re home.”
Humiliated, he lashed out, accusing me of inventing things and refusing to trust him.
He braked hard on a road outside the city. “Get out,” he said coldly. “We’ll talk when you’ve calmed down.”
A minute later, the car sped away, leaving a trail of exhaust.
Only he was the one left on the roadside.
Not me.
