Chapter 9: The Three Fiends of Dongying!
Qin Dong regarded the three strangers coldly. “Who are you? Why were you following me?”
Their leader radiated a fearsome presence. He grinned. “You seem close to Ye Junyao, kid. Be sensible and surrender. We’ll use you to make her cooperate.”
Qin Dong stared. “Ye Junyao is your target?” He had assumed Zhao Kuo had sent someone after him.
A tall, thin man snorted. “Who else? You think a nobody like you deserves the attention of the Three Fiends of Dongying?”
“The Three Fools of Dongying? Never heard of you.”
Their leader flew into a rage. “Damn you, Longguo brat! I’ll kill you!”
The tall man drew a katana and darted toward Qin Dong, his blade slicing through the air.
Qin Dong kept his hands in his pockets. “So you’re from Dongying. Don’t you know your people are the ones I hate most? Except the actresses, of course.”
As the sword came down, he kicked. The man flew backward into a concrete wall and died on impact.
The other two stared in horror. “Damn it! Together!”
They drew their weapons and attacked from both sides. Since reaching the first level of Qi Refining, Qin Dong felt as if he had inexhaustible strength. He sneered and rushed to meet them.
A crack and a heavy thud followed. In less than ten seconds, all three fiends lay dead.
Qin Dong dusted off his hands. It was his first time killing anyone, yet he felt no fear. He didn’t know whether that was because the men were from Dongying or because his ancestor’s legacy had changed his outlook.
“They’re professional killers. They must have some cash or gold on them.”
He searched the bodies, only to find a palm-sized black token inside the leader’s clothing. The unfamiliar material was cold and heavy, with an ugly skull carved on it.
He pocketed it and spat. “Three paupers!”
Then he considered the bodies. Getting rid of them was a problem. He spotted a foul drainage ditch nearby and kicked the three men into it, covered them with weeds, and scuffed away the blood on the ground. Once satisfied, he hurried off.
…
Some time later, police sirens sounded outside the unfinished building. Officers pulled the bodies from the ditch and cordoned off the scene.
A dark green military jeep arrived. Ye Junyao and a young woman dressed in black stepped out, crossed the cordon, and approached the bodies.
The woman in black gasped when she saw their faces. “The Three Fiends of Dongying! Ms. Ye, weren’t they here to kill you? How did they end up dead?”
Ye Junyao was just as astonished. One man’s neck had been broken, another’s breastbone crushed, and the back of the third man’s skull had been pierced. Each had died from a single clean strike.
Their killer had completely outclassed them. The fiends were notorious S-rank assassins; anyone who could dispatch them so easily had to be at least SSS-rank.
She drew a deep breath. “Ling Shuang, have someone investigate immediately. Find out when an expert like this came to Nanjiang City, and why they helped me.”
…
Unaware of this, Qin Dong arrived at Anjia Real Estate. Manager Yang Wei looked miserable at the sight of him, his eyes full of envy and resentment.
“The boss is waiting for you in his office.”
Qin Dong walked upstairs with his hands in his pockets, ignoring him. Yang Wei fumed. So what if the kid was a little better-looking and had caught a rich woman’s eye? He cursed Qin Dong to lose his virility sooner or later.
On the third floor, Zheng Youwei greeted Qin Dong warmly, pulled him into a chair, and beamed.
“Young Qin, excellent work. Ms. Ye paid one hundred and thirty-five million yuan outright for the three villas.”
Rubbing his hands, Zheng began calculating. “You know our commission rules. The agency takes two percent, or 2.7 million. Since you’re new, your share is twenty percent. After tax, that’s about four hundred thousand.”
He patted Qin Dong’s shoulder as if he were being generous. “But you did well, so I’ll give you five hundred thousand. Remember the card I gave you? It has exactly that amount. You didn’t spend it, did you? Consider it your commission.”
Qin Dong cursed inwardly. The money had been an expense fund for showing Ye Junyao the villas, and now Zheng was counting it as his commission. Worse, Qin Dong had sold three villas and was getting only twenty percent of the agency’s share. The man was a miser.
Seeing his displeasure, Zheng quickly offered an incentive. “Don’t be dissatisfied. I have another major client. If you land her, I’ll give you forty percent. Once the deal closes, I guarantee you at least a million in hand.”
He passed Qin Dong a client file. Qin Dong took it with a dark expression, then stared at the contents.
What the hell? How could it be her?
