Chapter 18
On the day Shi Chuan and I went to get the divorce certificate, my friends took it upon themselves to act as my bodyguards.
Ensuring Shi Chuan couldn’t get close to me.
I watched them link arms to form a human wall and burst into laughter.
Shi Chuan stood on the other side of the wall, holding the red booklet, looking at me.
He seemed much more haggard.
His expression suggested he had been crying, and his once well-fitting clothes appeared too large now.
He wanted to speak to me: “Zhao…”
“The weather is so nice today, Zhaozhao!” my friend immediately spoke loudly.
“Let’s go! Everyone’s waiting for you!”
“Waiting for what?”
“Congratulations on being single again! Hahaha.”
They gathered around, pushing me towards the car: “Let’s go!”
I laughed, joining in their antics.
I didn’t pay any more attention to the person behind me.
The car stopped in front of the hotel.
My friend linked her arm with mine and led me to the room door.
I grasped the doorknob and pressed down.
As the door swung open, countless ribbons and golden confetti descended from above.
Familiar faces greeted me with radiant smiles.
They looked at me and loudly congratulated: “Congratulations on escaping the sea of misery!”
I laughed and played along with them, becoming part of the joyous chaos.
