Chapter 99 - Nine Sons Golden Lotus
The Wu Earth Essence was roughly the size of a fist, making it hard to discern its true form, appearing instead akin to a cluster of yellow mist.
The Wu Earth Essence floated mid-air, wavering as if somewhat fearful of Leng Yan. Leng Yan noticed this behavior, secretly finding the Wu Earth Essence quite adorable.
After observing for a while, the Wu Earth Essence seemed to sense no danger and began to slowly approach Leng Yan.
Leng Yan was prepared. As soon as the Wu Earth Essence came near, he intended to trap it.
Wu Earth, being yang earth, is a rare refining material, and the Wu Earth Essence is even rarer. Acquiring one such essence, when given to someone skilled in crafting treasure tools, could result in creating two high-grade treasure tools!
Moreover, places where Wu Earth Essence can grow typically harbor other treasures, although these items tend to be well concealed. Capturing the Wu Earth Essence and searching through its memories could reveal the hidden location of these treasures.
The Wu Earth Essence emitted a “woo woo” sound, circling around Leng Yan. Seeing the opportune moment, Leng Yan suddenly exerted force, causing the surrounding rocks to shatter. Startled by the sudden change, the Wu Earth Essence transformed into a yellow streak and attempted to escape.
Simultaneously, as Leng Yan shattered the rocks, he cast out a relic particle. The golden relic particle, akin to a shooting star, enclosed the fleeing Wu Earth Essence.
“Bang! Bang…”
The Wu Earth Essence collided with the golden light of the relic, realizing it was trapped, it frantically attempted to break free, searching for an escape route.
With a wave of his hand, the relic returned, bringing the Wu Earth Essence with it. Leng Yan extended his hand, and the relic spun in his palm, the Wu Earth Essence still emitting its “woo woo” cries.
Intending to take a closer look at the Wu Earth Essence, Leng Yan was suddenly alerted by a sense of danger beneath his feet. Acting on instinct, he quickly leapt aside, taking the essence with him.
In mid-air, Leng Yan glanced at where he had just stood, noticing three towering earth spikes emerging from the ground.
Just as he was about to land, he heard the small creature in his palm emit its “woo woo” cries again, sensing something amiss. He swiftly altered his course, stepping lightly in the Void. The Azure Sky Sword appeared in response, holding Leng Yan aloft.
Looking down, the ground was instantly filled with earth spikes. Leng Yan gave a light chuckle, saying, “You’re quite formidable. Unfortunately, you encountered me!”
Spiritual awareness, like a sword, perused the spiritual wisdom and memories of the Wu Earth Essence, then erased them completely before storing it away in the space.
“Stalactite liquid, Nine Sons Golden Lotus! These are truly valuable treasures. However, there’s also a golden snake guarding them!” Leng Yan, while controlling his sword and moving forward, pondered how to deal with the golden snake.
Following the winding canyon for an unknown distance, Leng Yan finally spotted a cave. He had no idea about the cultivation level or realm of the golden snake. After some thought, Leng Yan decided to hide within the immortal land. This way, the golden snake wouldn’t notice him, allowing him to strike from the shadows or resort to a sneak attack if necessary.
Once decided, Leng Yan executed his plan. Burning a Primordial Spirit Elixir, he leapt agilely and vanished from the spot. In the immortal land, he moved like a speck of dust deeper into the cave.
After half an hour of navigating, he encountered a massive cavern. At the cavern’s center, a stalactite hung down from the stone ceiling, beneath which lay a large rock.
On this rock was a deep crater, roughly the size of a pot, containing a dark liquid. This liquid was the stalactite liquid, the essence power from the Wu Earth, condensing over ten years to form a single drop. The amount of stalactite liquid filling half the crater likely took tens of thousands of years to accumulate.
Such an abundance of stalactite liquid contained essence power equivalent to millions of Primordial Spirit Elixirs. However, it couldn’t be used directly-it needed to be refined into an elixir with other medicinal ingredients to avoid poisoning.
This large quantity of stalactite liquid was already a significant fortune. But even more valuable was the Nine Sons Golden Lotus within the pit, emitting a golden light.
The Nine Sons Golden Lotus is a top-grade medicinal ingredient, with a single lotus seed being worth millions of Primordial Spirit Elixirs-not to mention having nine. Additionally, its lotus leaves and flowers are rare treasures.
The Nine Sons Golden Lotus’s remarkable value lies in its ability to be used in refining the Supreme-grade “Withered Green Elixir” of the ninth tier.
The Withered Green Elixir can transform death energy into vital energy. As long as there’s a hint of life, consuming this elixir can revive it, making it flourish again.
Leng Yan landed among the lotus flowers, inhaling their fragrance, which cleared his mind, invigorated his spirit, and refreshed his body with a soothing aroma flowing within him. Just from this sensation alone, Leng Yan could discern that these were indeed heavenly materials and earthly treasures.
Surveying the surroundings, Leng Yan didn’t detect any signs of the golden snake. He thought about collecting the Nine Sons Golden Lotus first. However, if the lotus were removed from the stalactite liquid, it would wither, diminishing its medicinal potency.
After some consideration, Leng Yan decided to craft a magical treasure to contain the stalactite liquid before relocating the Nine Sons Golden Lotus.
But before proceeding, Leng Yan needed to lure out the golden snake, as hidden threats could be incredibly lethal.
Within the immortal land, Leng Yan floated to the edge of the crater. Under his control, the Sun Essence Wheel flew out toward a distant rock, crashing into it.
“Bang!”
The rock shattered, scattering debris, and the sound echoed throughout the cave.
Suddenly, Leng Yan noticed a bubbling sound coming from the crater-the stalactite liquid was bubbling!
“It’s hiding in there! Quite the choice of spot. Good thing I didn’t act rashly earlier, or a surprise attack might have caught me off guard!” Leng Yan muttered as he eyed the crater warily.
The bubbles increased, causing the stalactite liquid to churn, and the Nine Sons Golden Lotus swayed along. Suddenly, a golden snake emerged from the liquid, slithering onto a rock. Only then did Leng Yan get a clear view of the golden snake.
The golden snake was over ten feet long, about as thick as a finger, with a body resembling pure gold, shimmering with specks of golden light. Its small eyes were blood-red, and its bright red tongue flicked out with a hissing sound.
The golden snake raised its head, scanning its surroundings, and suddenly spotted the Sun Essence Wheel as it flew. The snake coiled its body tightly, its neck flattening like a cobra.
Leng Yan controlled the Sun Essence Wheel as it whirled toward the golden snake, aiming to slash it. The golden snake abruptly opened its mouth, releasing a golden beam like a lightning bolt from within.
With a loud “bang,” Leng Yan felt his power rebound back at him, causing a stifling sensation in his chest.
The Sun Essence Wheel had been knocked to the ground, emitting a motionless Golden Light. From this brief exchange, Leng Yan could deduce that the golden snake’s realm was at the peak of the unification realm.
Seeing the Sun Essence Wheel fall, the golden snake slithered swiftly-despite its seemingly slow movement-toward the wheel, its eyes filled with caution.
Leng Yan devised a plan to use the Sun Essence Wheel to distract the snake, allowing him to seize the opportunity to decapitate it.
He maneuvered the immortal land to float onto the golden snake’s midsection, then with a thought, caused the Sun Essence Wheel to vibrate.
Sure enough, the vibration startled the golden snake, making its neck abruptly rise as its eyes fixed intently on the wheel; its tongue flicked out, venom dripping from its tip.
The venom fell to the ground, corroding the rock and leaving a small pit-a testament to its potent toxicity.
Seizing the opportunity, Leng Yan gripped the Azure Sky Sword tightly and struck with all his might. The sword flashed like lightning, and in a glint of cold light, the golden snake’s body was cleaved into two. Having succeeded in his attack, Leng Yan swiftly withdrew with the immortal land.
The unfortunate golden snake had no clue what hit it; its bisected body continued to twitch.
Leng Yan suspected the golden snake wouldn’t die so easily, and indeed, with a “boom,” its two halves suddenly exploded.
Seeing the remains burst open finally eased Leng Yan’s mind. After waiting a bit longer with no movement and with the essence power of the immortal land depleted, Leng Yan emerged from the immortal land.
Scanning the surroundings to ensure there was no danger, Leng Yan went to the cave’s entrance, setting up a seal and hiding a few Fiend Thunder explosives.
Only then did he return, find a spot, and start laying out materials for weapon refining. He intended to craft a container.
Arranging the materials-rock, Ice Heart Jade, Flowing Silver, Warm Jade Beads, and Magnetite Meteorite-Leng Yan raised his left hand. A mass of red flames erupted with increasing intensity. Concerned that the high temperature might evaporate the stalactite liquid, he quickly arranged an isolating seal to contain the heat, then fully ignited the flames with all his strength.
