Chapter 91 - The Blood Seal Orb!
The sky was filled with fire dragons under Sun Hao’s control, rushing forth like a swarm of hungry dragons competing for food. Leng Yan’s face grew solemn as he let out a mighty roar towards the sky.
“All Fires Return to the Origin!”
The Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique operated at full force, and Leng Yan’s primordial fire blazed fiercely above his head. The fire dragons immediately lost control and scattered.
Above Leng Yan’s primordial fire, a black vortex spun rapidly, emitting a strong suction that pulled at the fire dragons in the air.
Sun Hao was caught off guard by the sudden change and quickly used his spiritual awareness to stabilize the fire dragons.
“Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique! I didn’t expect you to have so many secrets. It’s unfair that such powers should belong to only you. Today, I will seize everything, including your fortune!” Sun Hao’s face was filled with an excited smile, as if everything was already his.
Although the fire dragons lacked spiritual wisdom, they were formed from the essence power of heaven and earth, possessing a kind of spirituality.
Originally, the realm gap between Leng Yan and Sun Hao made it difficult for Leng Yan to devour his fire magical techniques, but the aura emanating from Leng Yan instilled fear in the fire dragons.
“Ah~”
Leng Yan suddenly shouted skyward, and with the shout, his momentum spread out like ripples, further startling the fire dragons. They abandoned resistance and merged into Leng Yan’s fire essence.
At this moment, Sun Hao’s greed surged to its peak, exactly as Leng Yan had hoped!
However, before Sun Hao used his true killing technique, Leng Yan would not easily reveal his trump card.
“Good! Good! So this is the Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique? Die for me! Blood Spear!” Sun Hao, seeing the fire dragons being devoured, was not shocked but laughed joyously, already imagining his own power once he cultivated the Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique.
The blood-red long spear, like a crimson meteor, shot forward. Leng Yan’s gaze sharpened, and his sun essence wheel roared to meet it.
“Boom!”
Leng Yan’s sun essence wheel was struck and flew away, yet the blood-red spear continued to attack. Leng Yan’s expression was grave but composed, raising his moon essence wheel for protection and swiftly retreating while casting magical techniques to fend off the blood spear.
The sound of explosive collisions echoed continuously in the air, and only after Leng Yan had retreated a hundred yards did he manage to disperse the blood spear.
But just then, Sun Hao advanced once more, a blood-colored broadsword forming in his hand. He swung it forcefully, and the sword, like a red crescent moon, spun towards Leng Yan’s waist.
Leng Yan gasped, bending sharply backward as the blood-colored broadsword narrowly skimmed past his nose, leaving him drenched in cold sweat.
“Haha! You can still surrender now!” Sun Hao grabbed the returning blood-colored broadsword, laughing as he charged forward.
Leng Yan could no longer afford to hold back. With a flick of his hand, the Azure Sky Sword appeared in his palm.
Flashes of blood-red and green continually streaked through the gray, murky sky!
Each clash was a heavy burden on Leng Yan, the disparity in strength evident as he was gradually pushed into a disadvantage.
His right hand, tightly gripping the Azure Sky Sword, began to numb and faintly tremble.
Yet Leng Yan knew that it wasn’t time to act yet. Someone at the peak of the unification realm was not like a peak realm demonic beast.
A human’s adaptability far surpassed that of a demonic beast, so in his duel with Sun Hao, Leng Yan had to calculate every step, or he would fall into an abyss.
“Die!”
Sun Hao, wielding the blood-colored broadsword, slashed downwards. Leng Yan quickly raised his trembling right hand to block with the Azure Sky Sword.
“Boom…”
The metallic clashing resounded as Sun Hao’s immense power sent Leng Yan crashing to the ground, dragging a long trail as he slid back another hundred yards.
His trembling right hand could no longer hold the Azure Sky Sword, which fell during the slide. Leng Yan, shocked by Sun Hao’s strength, spat out a mouthful of blood.
Seeing Leng Yan’s condition, a greedy smile spread across Sun Hao’s menacing face as he accelerated towards Leng Yan.
Leng Yan’s eyes were fixed on Sun Hao. Now was the time. Leng Yan suddenly rolled to his feet, retreating quickly.
“Seven Emotions Six Desires, Greed, emerge!”
Leng Yan’s gaze was icy, the Spirit of Desire transforming into fine threads that encircled Sun Hao.
Leng Yan’s voice echoed in his own mind; Sun Hao had no idea what these threads were, but it was clear to anyone that they were nothing good!
Sun Hao swung his blood-colored broadsword through the fine threads, but the threads seemed ethereal, passing right through the blade and swiftly entering his body.
The scene before Sun Hao’s eyes suddenly shifted, revealing Leng Yan charging rapidly towards him. Enraged, Sun Hao roared, bringing his blade down fiercely.
Leng Yan raised the Azure Sky Sword to block, yet it shattered like brittle scrap metal, sliced in two. A bloody gash appeared on Leng Yan’s chest, his blood absorbed by the blood-colored broadsword, deepening its crimson hue.
“Haha… I told you, you are no match for me. I will take all your memories and treasures!” Sun Hao laughed loudly as he noticed the dwindling light in Leng Yan’s eyes. His hand pressed onto Leng Yan’s crown as he began to probe his memories.
But…
When Sun Hao’s spiritual awareness delved into Leng Yan’s sea of consciousness, all he saw was a blank whiteness. “How is this possible?” Sun Hao exclaimed in shock.
At that moment, Sun Hao felt a sudden prick within his body, as if everything was going rigid and numb.
Immediately, a chill rose in Sun Hao’s heart, a sense of dread settling deep within him.
“Flames ever-burning, guide the way, reveal!”
As Sun Hao chanted, a flame ignited within his sea of consciousness, altering the scene before him.
Now he saw Leng Yan standing at a distance, smiling, clearly not dead.
“Tricks of demons and heretics, you dare confuse me? Courting death!” Sun Hao bellowed, attempting to pursue Leng Yan, but realized his body had gone numb, unresponsive to his commands.
“What the…”
Before he could finish speaking, a loud explosion erupted beside him. Sun Hao’s physical body was blasted apart.
His soul, enveloped in a blood-red glow, flew outward like a shooting star.
Leng Yan’s lips curled into a smile. Sun Hao had been deceived, if only for a fleeting moment, but it was enough for Leng Yan to act decisively, blocking Sun Hao’s escape route.
An invisible sealing net intercepted the blood-red glow mid-air. In the brief moment it was stalled, Leng Yan had already caught up!
Leng Yan extended a hand, conjuring a palm of ice that captured the blood-red glow. He kept a safe distance to prevent any potential explosion from Sun Hao’s blood seal orb outside his soul. Seeing himself cornered, Sun Hao spoke resignedly, “Leng Yan, we… we are fellow disciples after all. I admit my defeat today, and I’m willing to submit to you in the future. If you won’t spare me, at least grant me a swift end! What do you say?”
Hearing Sun Hao’s plea, Leng Yan’s lips curled into a cold smile. Even those cultivating the dao fear death, and they especially dread torture. Without a cultivated primordial spirit, one doesn’t have control over life and death.
Like now, with Sun Hao’s soul in Leng Yan’s grasp, his fate was essentially in Leng Yan’s hands. Leng Yan could either obliterate his soul or torment him.
Sun Hao didn’t fear death but was terrified of a fate worse than death. He set aside his pride to beg, hoping for a quick end even if forgiveness was not an option.
“Spare you? In my book, enemies have only one fate-death. But before your demise, you still hold some value. As for granting you a swift end? That’s not likely. Someone has to pay for my spilled blood, to even the score!” Leng Yan replied coldly.
“You want to soul search me? I’ll tell you, I’m within the blood seal orb. While you can kill me using a magical technique, as long as I don’t activate the blood seal orb, your spiritual awareness won’t be able to conduct a soul search!” Sun Hao, seemingly confident in his argument, said coldly, “If you agree not to torture me and give me a quick death, I’ll open the blood seal orb and won’t resist your soul search. I know you’re eager to learn blood seals, but if you torture me, you won’t learn anything about them!”
“Negotiating with me, Sun Hao? Don’t think you’re the only clever one here. Your blood seal technique comes from this blood seal orb, doesn’t it? I can torture you and then kill you, taking my time to study the orb afterward,” Leng Yan said, his eyes sharp as lightning, fixed on Sun Hao’s faint soul image.
“Alright then! Go ahead and torture me! Let’s see if the blood seal orb even contains the blood seal techniques! Just don’t regret it later. I can also tell you there’s an immortal’s abode in my memory. Believe it or not!” Sun Hao seemed to resign himself to fate, leaving the choice to Leng Yan.
