Chapter 18
Ever since the last incident of falling into the water, Chen Sui had been haunted by lingering fear.
He insisted on making me learn how to swim.
He dragged me into the school swimming pool.
There weren’t many people at this hour; the few who were there were already getting ready to leave.
Only Duan Yutang was left.
Both times I’d seen her, she was soaking in the water.
Was she a fish or something?
I tugged at the corner of my mouth.
Chen Sui clearly saw her too; he just glanced at her and pulled me, intending to leave.
We had barely taken a few steps when a sudden, frantic splashing came from behind.
“Chen Sui!”
“My leg cramped, help me!”
Chen Sui stopped again and led me back.
But he didn’t get into the water, just looked on indifferently.
“Chen Sui!” Duan Yutang gasped for help between splashes.
I watched as the splashes around Duan Yutang grew smaller and smaller, and poked Chen Sui.
“Aren’t you going to help her?”
Chen Sui turned his head and glanced at me, “Little saint, did you forget she pushed you in last time?”
I was stunned for a few seconds before I remembered.
“Oh.”
It wasn’t that my memory was bad; it was just that what she did was so shocking that, for a moment, I only remembered her setting fire to herself in that suicidal confession.
My grudge resurfaced, and I said nothing more.
It wasn’t until the water was about to cover Duan Yutang’s head that Chen Sui calmly called over the pool staff.
Chen Sui had a perfect sense of timing-he made sure Duan Yutang suffered enough, but nothing fatal happened.
Duan Yutang was rescued and coughed up water on the shore.
I watched from the side, feeling no sympathy at all.
Whether it was me in the pool a while ago, or Chen Sui in the fire nine years ago-
We could only say we were lucky in our misfortune.
As for whether Duan Yutang truly wanted to kill us-
Things never got that far, so none of us could know for sure.
