I'm Done with the Elite Marriage - Chapter 51
The group of friends sat together, their conversation meandering through various topics. It seemed that every so often, they would reflect on life-once dreaming about the future as children, and now as adults, still dreaming about what lies ahead. They all held hopes for the future, yet as they grew older, they understood the inevitable need to face reality.
Congshi spent the evening offering Zhou Youling fruit or snacks. Zhou Youling’s belly was bulging from all the eating, and she quickly called a halt, “No more snacks, please!”
Congshi peeled a segment of pomelo and handed it to Zhou Youling, “Alright, just this last piece.”
The pomelo was a refreshing mix of sweet and sour, not overwhelming at all, and Zhou Youling hesitated briefly before accepting it.
Congshi glanced at Zhou Youling’s belly and couldn’t resist reaching out to touch it, “Why hasn’t it grown at all? Are you not feeding my goddaughter enough?”
Zhou Youling chuckled, “I eat plenty now, trust me.”
As she spoke, she adjusted the fabric over her stomach. Upon closer inspection, her belly had indeed started to show a slight bump. However, this subtle swelling was no different from the usual belly that appears when sitting down. Thus, at over four months pregnant, no one could tell she was expecting.
“Regardless, you mustn’t engage in any dangerous activities like today,” Bai Lingxue advised Zhou Youling.
Zhou Youling nodded at Bai Lingxue and asked, “Are you feeling better now?”
“Much better,” Bai Lingxue shrugged, “Why should I be upset over a jerk? It’s a waste of emotion, a waste of life.”
Congshi agreed wholeheartedly, “That’s the right mindset. But honestly, I’ve never met a scumbag like Luo Hang before.”
In truth, Bai Lingxue had unknowingly become the “third party” in this relationship. Luo Hang already had a girlfriend at university, but after meeting Bai Lingxue through gaming, he was drawn to her wealth.
Bai Lingxue prided herself on her wisdom, yet she never imagined she would fall for a college student. Throughout their relationship, Bai Lingxue had covered most of their expenses.
Losing some money was a minor issue for Bai Lingxue; what mattered was that she had genuinely invested her heart in this relationship.
Bai Lingxue sighed, “I was blinded by his looks, thinking Luo Hang’s clean-cut and handsome appearance meant he was a good man. Honestly, during our relationship, I sensed something was off, which is why I felt so insecure.”
Zhou Youling patted Bai Lingxue’s shoulder, offering comfort, “It’s all behind you now. Next time we see Luo Hang, we’ll make sure he regrets it.”
Just then, Bai Lingxue’s phone buzzed with several messages in quick succession.
She opened them, only to find they were from Luo Hang.
“I’m sorry. I know I was wrong.”
“Please don’t be too harsh.”
“I deserve all the blame, but can you ask your friend to go easy on me?”
“He said if you agree, I can keep my enrollment.”
“I’m sorry, I was out of my mind. I truly apologize. I know I shouldn’t have hurt you, and I shouldn’t have been two-timing.”
Before long, Bai Lingxue received a short video from Luo Hang. In the video, Luo Hang was kneeling in front of the camera. His face showed no signs of injury, but his body was contorted in a twisted posture. His voice trembled as he sincerely apologized to Bai Lingxue.
“I’m sorry, I really am. I was blinded by my own foolishness from the start, but during our time together, I felt guilty because I knew I was wrong. I hope you’ll give me a chance; I promise I’ll never do anything like this again…”
Bai Lingxue watched Luo Hang in the video with a blank expression, surprised at how numb her heart felt.
She felt no sympathy for Luo Hang; in fact, she wished he would go to hell.
But eventually, reason prevailed, and Bai Lingxue calmed down.
After dealing with Luo Hang’s situation, Bai Lingxue hugged a pillow and asked Zhou Youling, “Are you really going to turn down Ji Yangwen?”
Zhou Youling nodded, “Essentially, we’re not from the same world. Besides, I already have one in my belly; I can’t let him be the one to pick up the pieces.”
“Who knows? Maybe he’d be willing,” Bai Lingxue suggested.
Zhou Youling shot Bai Lingxue a look, “Are you forgetting the pain so soon after healing? Honestly, I’ve given up on any illusions about love.”
Bai Lingxue sighed, “That’s because I chose poorly. Don’t hold onto that mindset; there are still plenty of beautiful love stories out there.”
The conversation seemed to reach a dead end, and silence fell between them.
Meanwhile, Congshi had already curled up on the sofa and fallen asleep.
On the other side of the city.
Nanzhou City International Airport.
Fu Xunzhou sat in the business class lounge, receiving a phone call.
At that moment, the announcement for boarding had already started, precisely for Fu Xunzhou’s flight.
Fu Hexu was on the other end of the line, sounding frantic, “You’re at the airport now? Are you really leaving?”
Fu Xunzhou responded with a soft “Hmm,” “You should start getting used to it.”
“Getting used to what? Do you really think I’ll go to work?” Fu Hexu retorted.
Fu Xunzhou chuckled quietly, “I don’t believe you.”
Fu Hexu replied, “Fine! You’ve got guts.”
