Chapter 2
“What’s wrong? Why are you spacing out?”
Jiang Ye emerged from the bathroom, drying his hair as he curiously asked me.
I snapped back to reality.
Looking up at Jiang Ye.
He was only wrapped in a towel, with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and eight-pack abs.
Jiang Ye had always kept his physique in great shape.
People envied me for it: “With his looks, as long as he’s not committing crimes, what can’t be forgiven? Especially since he’s so devoted to you!”
I had always known Jiang Ye was devoted to me.
But now, it seems it was just my assumption.
“By the way, someone called you earlier, didn’t say a word and hung up. Do you want to check?”
“Probably a spam call, no need to bother.”
Jiang Ye casually took the phone.
He tossed the towel he was using to dry his hair into the laundry basket and picked up the pack of cigarettes from the table.
“I’m going to the balcony for a smoke.”
Since I dislike the smell of smoke, Jiang Ye always went to the balcony to smoke.
Turns out, he wasn’t really going to smoke.
After a short while, Jiang Ye came back inside.
As he changed clothes, he spoke to me.
“Honey, I need to go out for a bit, there’s something urgent. Don’t wait up for me tonight.”
“What happened?”
“Hai-Ge1‘s machine has some issues. It’s bad luck for him, I guess. It was fine during the testing, but now it’s either showing a distorted screen or crashing. I need to go check it out. If it’s too late, I’ll stay over there and not come back.”
“Is President Zhou going with you?”
“Yes!”
So convincing!
There are facts, evidence, and even a witness.
I nodded.
“Stay safe.”
