Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 26
Lin Yi suddenly appeared beside him, looking at his wrist.
“Ah, so the handsome guy is also keeping a ghost.”
“What?” Jiang Chenyi took a step back, his eyes wary as he looked at Lin Yi.
He felt that this female ghost was indeed quite peculiar.
Lin Yi, with her blood-stained face, pointed at the small scab on his wrist.
“That’s from the ghost you’re keeping, isn’t it?”
“What are you trying to say?” The young man’s eyes were cold.
Lin Yi laughed, leaving behind an ambiguous remark, “Ghosts, they can lie.”
Ghosts, for their own purposes, can indeed lie and deceive.
After saying this, she vanished into thin air.
Jiang Chenyi instinctively touched his wrist, where Mr. Ghost had bitten him.
It wasn’t deep, nor did it hurt.
It was just a playful bite during their intimate moments.
But Meng Loudi had also drunk his blood.
Jiang frowned, shaking his head vigorously, “What am I thinking?”
Their Mr. Ghost would never do anything harmful to him!
If he wanted to, he would have done it long ago, not waited until now!
Jiang let out a long sigh, grabbed his things, and headed home!
Perhaps because he had spent so much time around ghosts, he could now see them.
The young man rode his bicycle into the community and saw a familiar old man sitting by the flowerbed, watching the people chatting nearby.
Jiang locked his bike and said, “Grandpa Wang, what are you doing sitting here?”
The old man looked at the young man, surprised, “Jiang, you can see me?”
Jiang Chenyi was taken aback, realizing that Grandpa Wang was no longer among the living.
“Uncle…” He remembered that Grandpa Wang had passed away over ten days ago.
“I see, Jiang, your man isn’t human, is he?” The old man raised his eyebrows, looking at the young man, “Jiang, don’t be blinded.”
“Uncle?”
Grandpa Wang smiled, “Jiang, you’re human. How can a human see ghosts?”
His form dispersed with the wind, leaving no trace.
Jiang looked at the empty flowerbed, his fingers clenched.
Even if he’s human, so what?
Even if he can see ghosts, so what?
The young man smiled and walked upstairs.
Their Mr. Ghost was waiting for him.
As usual, the door opened on its own. Jiang walked in, changed into slippers, and flopped onto the sofa, listening to the sounds from the kitchen, calling out, “My Mr. Ghost!”
Meng Loudi came out of the kitchen, carrying a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
“What is it, Chenyi?”
His eyes curved into a smile, like a gentle spring breeze.
Jiang looked at his man’s handsome face and sighed deeply.
“Loudi, there’s something I want to tell you.”
Jiang Chenyi’s expression was serious, and Meng Loudi’s heart tightened.
“What is it?”
Jiang sat up straight, looked at Mr. Ghost, and suddenly laughed, “I can see ghosts now!”
“Huh?” Mr. Ghost’s expression was one of surprise, “How can that be? Chenyi, aren’t you a normal human?”
“I don’t know, I just can.” Jiang chuckled, getting up to grab some utensils from the kitchen.
Mr. Ghost set down the dish and followed him, circling like a worried big dog, “Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”
Listening to the man’s gentle, worried words, Jiang’s lips curled up.
How could their Mr. Ghost ever intend to harm him?
The young man turned, smiling, “No discomfort at all! Look at me, I’m perfectly fine, maybe it’s just from living with you for so long?”
“Is that so? If you feel uncomfortable in any way, you must tell me.” Meng Loudi wrapped his arms around the young man’s waist, kissing his neck softly, “You must tell me.”
Jiang nodded, “Of course, but let me think, could it be because of, you know, what we’ve been doing? After all, I only started seeing ghosts recently.”
Mr. Ghost sighed, kissing the young man’s ear again, “Then I’ll hold back a bit, I’ll try to restrain myself.”
“Hahaha, no, if you hold back, I won’t.” Jiang laughed, then turned to kiss Mr. Ghost’s nose, “I really love you, Loudi.”
Mr. Ghost hugged the young man tighter, sighing, “I love you too, I love Chenyi so much, so very much.”
He cherished him so deeply, he couldn’t allow anything to happen.
Jiang and his lover continued their sweet life. Late at night, the young man fell into a deep sleep.
Meng Loudi suddenly opened his eyes, looking at his beloved beside him, his long fingers tracing the other’s features, as if to etch them into his heart.
“Chenyi, I need your love, all of your love, love me, love me forever.” His deep voice, like a curse, echoed in the air.
He kissed the young man’s lips softly, a strange smile playing on his lips.
Jiang’s life went on as usual.
But on this Saturday, the long-haired girl appeared again at the tutoring class, accompanied by the female ghost.
Xu Moli stood in front of Jiang’s office, knocking on the door.
“Come in.”
The girl pushed the door open, looked inside, and smiled, “Teacher, can I talk to you?”
“What’s up? Something on your mind?” Jiang was about to leave, but since she was here, he decided to listen.
“Nothing really, just didn’t know who to talk to, so I thought of you.”
Just wanted someone to chat with.
Jiang naturally wouldn’t refuse.
“Come in.”
He walked into the office, picked up a bottle of yogurt from his desk, and handed it to the girl.
“For you.”
“Oh, no, teacher, it’s okay.” Xu Moli quickly declined.
“Take it, you’ve had a long day of classes, aren’t you tired?” Jiang raised an eyebrow, placing it in her hand.
Xu Moli hesitated, her face turning red, and accepted the yogurt.
“So, Miss Xu, what do you want to talk about?” the young man asked.
Xu Moli didn’t sit down, standing there, her hands clutching the yogurt, “I want to ask, teacher, what does Lin Yi look like now?”
Jiang was drinking his own yogurt and nearly choked at her question.
He coughed violently.
Xu Moli hurried forward, “Teacher, are you okay?”
Jiang waved his hand, covering his mouth, “Cough, cough, I’m fine. Do you really want to know?”
“I do.” Xu Moli lowered her eyes.
She really wanted to know what that person looked like now.
The female ghost sat on the office desk, observing the girl’s expression.
Jiang Chenyi caught his breath, looking at the desk, “I’ll describe her to you, but it’s not pretty.”
Lin Yi heard this, her gaze turning eerie as she showed her teeth, her voice chilling, “Handsome guy~ who are you calling not pretty?”
Jiang blinked, looking innocent.
“It’s okay.” Xu Moli quickly said, her eyes bright.
The young man spoke softly, “Her joints are twisted, her body is contorted, wearing a school uniform, right? Her legs are ethereal, her hair clumped together, and she’s covered in blood, that’s about it.”
Xu Moli listened, her hands tightening, but this time she didn’t cry, just listened seriously.
Jiang finished, looking at her, “Tomorrow night at nine, at the place where she jumped, are you really going?”
The girl looked at the desk, where Lin Yi’s ghost should be.
“I’ll go!” she said firmly.
She looked at Jiang Chenyi again, “I need to take responsibility for my actions.”
“She might want your life,” Jiang hesitated.
Though he didn’t know the full story, Lin Yi might indeed take her life.
“Then I’ll give it to her.” Xu Moli smiled, biting her lip, her eyes shining, “Whatever she wants, I’ll give it to her.”
“You…” Jiang felt there must be more to the story; this girl didn’t seem like someone who would be two-faced.
Xu Moli smiled broadly, “Thank you for telling me, teacher. Goodbye!”
“Wait, tomorrow night, I’ll go with you.” Jiang Chenyi decided. Though he didn’t know what would happen, he would try to protect her.
“No need, teacher, I can handle it.” Xu Moli shook her head.
The young man looked at her, “But I want to go with you. Where’s your school? I’ll go with you. Moli, I’ll worry about you.”
A girl going to school late at night.
Xu Moli flashed a small white smile, “Thank you, teacher. No.3 High School, top floor of the second-year building.”
That’s where Lin Yi jumped.
With that, the girl left.
The door closed, and she walked quickly, tears falling.
Saying she wasn’t scared would be a lie; how could she not be scared?
Lin Yi, everything I owe you, I’ll repay.
So, can you let me go?
Jiang looked at the ghost still sitting on his desk, saying nothing.
The female ghost tilted her head, looking at Jiang, asking, “Why do you always think Xu Moli has hidden motives? She admitted it was her who caused my death.”
She really wanted to know.
This was the first person she’d met who was so willing to believe in Xu Moli.
Even without knowing anything, he was willing to believe Xu Moli might be innocent.
“Maybe it’s a kindred spirit effect?” Jiang tilted his head.
“What?”
“Hahaha, just kidding. I just think that girl is like me, soft-hearted and unwilling to hurt others.” Jiang shrugged, “I’m leaving. As for whether she really caused your death, you both know, no, maybe only you know.”
The young man looked at the ghost, his lips curling.
“Lin Yi, have I ever told you, you remind me of a wolf.”
Yes, to Jiang Chenyi, Xu Moli was a rabbit, and Lin Yi was the wolf eyeing the rabbit.
The ghost laughed, floating in front of Jiang, suddenly touching his left shoulder.
Jiang’s body stiffened.
The female ghost’s fingers pointed at the spot covered by his clothes, whispering, “Here, bitten again, isn’t it?”
Jiang Chenyi looked at her expressionlessly.
“Don’t look at me like that, the ghost you’re keeping bit you again, that’s a fact.” The female ghost turned her head, huffing, “Ghosts can lie, and they have their desires. The stronger the desire, the more it fuels the lies.”
With that, she vanished once more.
Jiang’s eyes darkened as he watched her disappear, raising his hand to his left shoulder.
It was where his Mr. Ghost had bitten him.
Similar circumstances, a playful bite, but this time it was deep, painful.
So painful that for a moment, Jiang felt like he might be devoured by Meng Loudi.
If Jiang hadn’t cried so much, Mr. Ghost might have bitten harder.
Jiang pressed on his wound, where it was scabbing over.
Why?
Why did Meng Loudi bite him?
Why bite him and greedily suck his blood?
It made him feel like his Mr. Ghost was waiting for his weakest moment, then biting him.
Like a hidden snake in the grass, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, injecting venom, strangling him.
Thinking about it like that, it’s a bit scary, isn’t it?
