Chapter 2
It was time to leave work.
I received a call from an old friend:
“Off work now, Qi? Hurry up and come over, I’ve sent you the location.”
“You must come, it’s rare for everyone to be back in the country, a chance to gather.”
“Hey, your husband can’t see anyway, just tell him you’re working overtime, you husband slave!”
After repeatedly declining.
I sighed and replied, “Alright.”
Then, I took out my phone and opened Jiang Mo’s number.
This was our third year of marriage.
Perhaps because he was blind.
For three years, except in bed, Jiang Mo was always gentle and considerate.
Unable to check my phone, naturally, there were no arguments or jealousy, so gentle that I almost felt he didn’t love me.
Thus, as if driven by some impulse.
I made an exception and dialed his number.
He answered instantly, and his gentle, pleasant voice came through the receiver:
“Hello? Qi.”
The tenderness in his voice when he called my name was no different from usual.
I paused for a moment and said, “I have to work overtime today, I won’t be back for dinner, you should rest early.”
There was a brief pause on the other end.
Then, understandingly, he said, “Okay. Don’t overwork yourself, I’ll be waiting at home.”
I hung up the phone.
See, as expected.
Jiang Mo, just like his name.
Silent, never asking too much or too little.
A sense of loneliness washed over me.
I turned off the phone, packed my things, and took a cab to the restaurant location my friend had sent.
