Chapter 8
A month of cooling-off period passed in the blink of an eye, and soon arrived.
When Gu Ze and I went to the civil affairs bureau to handle the divorce procedures, Su Qing tagged along.
Perhaps in an attempt to outshine me, she dressed herself in extravagant jewelry, looking down at me with her chin held high.
Her words were full of bitterness and sarcasm, drawing frequent glances from passersby and staff members.
“Is it so brazen to be a mistress these days?”
“Young and misguided, being a mistress and still so proud, truly a disgrace.”
I sat there with dignity, neither humble nor arrogant, and did not retaliate.
Su Qing, being young, couldn’t hold her composure and immediately wanted to argue with the bystanders about her belief in true love being innocent.
In the end, it was Gu Ze who, not wanting to attract attention, spoke up to stop her.
“Su Qing, keep quiet.”
When I saw the staff member stamp the divorce certificate and hand it to me, I finally felt at ease.
My beaming expression clearly displeased Gu Ze.
“Shu Jia, it’s too late for regrets now.”
I raised an eyebrow and smiled.
“My only regret is not divorcing sooner.”
As I left, I gave Su Qing a once-over, shook my head, and said with a frown.
“Your greatest asset is your youth. If you had dressed in this tacky manner when you first seduced Gu Ze, he wouldn’t have given you a second glance.”
My words made Su Qing so furious that she jumped on the spot, shouting.
“So what! Shu Jia, you still lost, and when I marry him, I’ll definitely send you an invitation.”
After saying that, still not satisfied, she smugly patted her still-flat belly and boasted.
“Oh, and I’ll invite you to the baby’s full moon banquet too.”
The only response she got was the exhaust from my sports car.
