Dumped at the Cliffhanger Moment - Chapter 12
I started getting along well with Silas.
No longer probing into his preferences, but gradually finding a rhythm with him.
I stopped deliberately watching the movies he liked. After dinner, I would snuggle on the couch with Silas to watch the horror films I enjoyed.
He seemed calm on the surface, but ended up having a nightmare and waking up in a panic at night!
Then he held me for a long time without speaking, until I was almost asleep when he whispered:
“Darling, can we not watch horror movies anymore…”
I stopped drinking red wine and took him to roadside stalls to drink white liquor. He wasn’t very good at drinking, his face turned bright red, and he kept coughing while I laughed at him from the side.
When he got annoyed, he was serious about it. Later, I found out he secretly bought a lot of white liquor at home trying to practice his drinking capacity.
…
Kaele went back, no longer bothering me.
I heard he suddenly decided to go back and take over the family business for some reason, fighting fiercely with those illegitimate children.
In early March, Silas proposed to me.
He said he wanted to marry me soon, didn’t want to wait any longer.
Somehow, Kaele found out about the engagement and insisted on meeting me to talk.
After discussing it with Silas, I arranged to meet Kaele halfway up the mountain, with the sea below, waves crashing against the rocks, and seagulls circling in the sky.
Kaele leaned against the railing in a black hoodie, handed me a can of beer, took a sip himself, and glanced at the eight-carat diamond ring on my hand, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
“How long have you been together before getting engaged?”
I held the beer and smiled, “When you’re with the right person, you don’t need to wait long.”
He scoffed, then fell silent, staring at the sea, before speaking after a while:
“Elowen, what about me then?”
“You just played with me, got bored and tossed me aside, now you’re happily ever after, what about me?”
“There are so many girls who like you, what’s there to worry about, you’re afraid you won’t find someone?” I playfully patted him, seeing Kaele didn’t smile, withdrew my hand and said softly:
“Kaele, you don’t really like me. If you truly liked me, you wouldn’t have constantly betrayed me when we were together.”
“You just haven’t been dumped before, unwilling to accept that I broke up with you first.”
Kaele said nothing, downed the beer in his hand.
I handed the beer back to him, “I wish you happiness in the future, this time I mean it.”
Then I turned and left.
I had walked quite a distance when Kaele suddenly called out to me from behind, his voice trembling.
“But Elowen, I really do like you!”
I didn’t stop, waved my hand back at him, and continued walking.
My phone chimed with a message from Silas.
“I’ve practiced my drinking, tonight let’s battle at the barbecue stall downstairs.”
I couldn’t help but laugh and replied to him.
“Alright, whoever passes out first is a dog.”
In the distance, the sky was vast and the sea wide, sunlight piercing through the clouds.
Spring had truly arrived.
