Chapter 2
Leaving the dean’s office.
The classmates around me all avoided my gaze guiltily.
Because just now, they all gave false testimony for Allison.
Allison had someone take the SAT for her to get high scores; this was something many people knew.
Including some professors.
But everyone chose silence.
Even after I reported it, they actively stood up to give false testimony for Allison.
There was only one reason:
Allison was a well-known privileged student at our university.
The Sterling family was already incredibly wealthy.
Since her uncle Ethan Sterling took over the core affairs of the family, the Sterling family’s business has expanded at a rocket-like speed.
From high-end malls in the city center to theme parks, they were all under his industry. He is also a major shareholder in many well-known enterprises.
Offending Allison was equivalent to offending Ethan Sterling.
Although this helm holder is not yet thirty, he is already a figure of immense power.
No one dares to easily provoke him.
Only I, like a reckless thorn.
Once the report is established, Allison is very likely unable to graduate.
She panicked and urgently recalled her uncle, who was on a business trip abroad, to back her up.
My roommate followed behind me, earnestly advising:
“Why are you doing this? Graduation is just around the corner, endure it and it will pass.”
“If you want to endure it, you endure it. I can’t.”
“Ah, she has a powerful uncle, there’s nothing we can do about it.”
“When she plagiarized your semester paper, you didn’t say that.” My roommate was momentarily speechless, unable to refute.
Allison lives in the same dormitory building as us.
She is arrogant and self-centered.
But particularly, her bullying towards me is even more severe.
At first, I didn’t understand why.
Later, I found out it was because of a senior.
Allison once had quite a fondness for this senior.
Once, I accidentally wore a jacket of the same brand as the senior.
Everyone teased that we were wearing “couple outfits.”
The senior just smiled and said, “It’s an honor.”
Because of this, Allison held a grudge against me.
Yes, just because of this small matter.
In fact, I don’t even have contact information for that senior.
Allison later liked many other boys,
But her dislike for me never changed.
I returned to the dormitory, continuing to organize evidence of Allison having someone take the exam for her.
Around me, the roommates were already excitedly gossiping.
“Did you see Ethan Sterling today?”
“I did! He looks even younger and more handsome than in the magazines!”
“I heard he’s only seven years older than Allison.”
“Oh my, the charm of a mature man! Does anyone know if he’s married? Does he have a partner?”
“I heard Allison mention that he seems to have a stable partner. But even if he’s single, it wouldn’t be our turn. People like him are too far from our world.”
“True.”
Listening to their conversation, I couldn’t help but be lost in thought.
Thinking again about those persistent strange dreams.
In the dream, “Ethan” shed his meticulously groomed elite attire, and I also abandoned all modesty and defenses.
Indulgence, abandon.
We were unable to speak in the dream, only driven by instinct to possess each other.
But strangely, before today, I didn’t even know Ethan Sterling.
How could I dream of him?
