Doll Survival Game - Chapter 94 - Fairy Tale Forest (Part 31)
Central Lobby.
Tian Tang was feeling quite energetic, her eyes darting across several display panels. Fortunately, there were fewer panels now, and since many people were in the same place, the panels had merged, allowing her to barely keep up.
She glanced at the doll’s silver thread. “As expected, the more someone fights and pushes forward, the stronger the game makes them.”
“What a wonderful thing, but it also proves that cowardice is not an option,” Tian Tang said, her eyes narrowing slightly, her expression filled with a sense of happiness.
Wei Lianlian’s gaze was fixed on Duan Miaomiao. “But that’s only because it’s within the game… and even in the game, many people die while charging forward.”
“True,” Tian Tang mused, resting her chin on her hand. She then turned to Xia Lang’s display panel, watching the young man, about her age, whose expression was timid but whose actions were bold as he fought the serpent man. “But if there’s motivation, it’s easier to survive, right?”
Wei Lianlian lowered her eyes gently. “No, life isn’t something you can just improve by trying hard… Some people’s fates are just like that, no matter how much they struggle.”
Fang Jincheng paused, feeling slightly uncomfortable with her words. “But this is a game, like those who have died still have a chance to come back.”
That’s what revival potions are for, after all.
Wei Lianlian glanced at him. She was not one for beating around the bush; her strength in both reality and the game allowed her to live freely. So she spoke directly, “Some things shouldn’t be forced.”
Fang Jincheng tightened his grip, looking at her. “What do you mean?”
“Do you want to revive your friend? Or your family?” Wei Lianlian asked bluntly. “We’ve been together for almost three days, so let me give you some advice: the living are always more important than the dead.”
“You mean I shouldn’t try to get the revival potion.” Fang Jincheng wasn’t angry, as he didn’t sense any malice from Wei Lianlian; she was genuinely advising him.
“It will be very dangerous,” Wei Lianlian said, closing her eyes lightly. “The game has been running for a year now. How many people have died during this time? And how many are worried about their own survival?”
“The revival potion will be something everyone in the game fights for, which makes it dangerous for you. Even if you get it, it won’t be safe until it’s used.”
Fang Jincheng looked up. “But the chance to revive a friend is right in front of me. How can I not try?”
Guan Cheng was taken aback, looking at Fang Jincheng. After a moment, he spoke, “We are indeed very weak.”
“We don’t have any powerful items, we’re not a special species, and we’ve never received any game rewards… Going for it would indeed be very dangerous, and Miss Wei is right, the living are always more important than the dead.”
Fang Jincheng pressed his lips together.
“But,” Guan Cheng turned his head towards Fang Jincheng, the fine lines at the corners of his eyes deepening, “if you want to go, I can go with you. I don’t need the revival potion. If I’m lucky enough to get it, I’ll give it to you.”
Fang Jincheng was stunned.
Tian Tang stretched her legs, taking her eyes off the holographic display to rest them. “Uncle, don’t you have someone you want to revive?”
Guan Cheng smiled. “My child died in the real world.”
Tian Tang instantly fell silent, awkwardly tugging at her skirt.
Wei Lianlian’s silky hair slipped off her shoulder as she spoke calmly, “If you end up dying, I’ll make sure to remember you.”
Though she hadn’t formed close bonds with other players except Tian Tang, she remembered everyone she had conversed with.
Guan Cheng chuckled, “Instead of a memorial, I’d prefer if you spared us if we meet in the organizational battle instance.”
Tian Tang gave a thumbs-up, “You got it!”
Fang Jincheng opened his mouth to say something, but his eyes widened as he caught sight of something. He grabbed Guan Cheng’s arm, “Look!”
The surrounding players gasped in unison-
“Who is that woman?”
“She killed the unicorn! The players from the werewolf faction reacted quickly, heading straight to eliminate the remaining players from the unicorn’s camp as soon as they heard the notification!”
“If it weren’t for the doll snatching the kill, she would have completed the clearance conditions… By the way, her teammates call her An-Jie. Haven’t heard of her before, have we?”
“The average score ranking is based on exploration points, not a complete reflection of strength. Plus, if she hasn’t been featured in a live broadcast, her fame would naturally be low.”
Tian Tang smiled, “I thought Zhang Mimi and the others would go after the boss or Feng Bai and Wang Xiaoming, but now it seems likely they’ll face this An-Jie.”
“An Ming, her name is An Ming,” Wei Lianlian recalled, “We crossed paths briefly in a previous instance.”
A very… bold person.
Listening to the system broadcast, the doll soared into the sky using the silver thread, only able to see the distant ice wall, not the valley itself. “That woman is indeed formidable.”
“Young master, don’t get distracted,” the magician called out leisurely from below.
Luo Yiran used the silver thread to shift his body in mid-air, dodging the male giant’s massive swinging arm.
Little Red sat atop the female giant’s head, glaring at the magician in frustration, “Isn’t he controlling you?”
The magician sat obediently on a rock, playing with cards and occasionally conjuring a rose or a white dove. Despite the blood-soaked bandages covering him, he wore very little, with only a triangular spike at his waist and no pockets anywhere, leaving Little Red puzzled about where he hid these items.
Not even a medium for his tricks.
The bandages fluttered as the magician smiled lightly, “Not controlling, you can attack me if you wish.”
Attack him? If she attacked the magician, he would retaliate openly, and the game wouldn’t issue a warning since it would be considered self-defense.
Little Red glared at him furiously, then watched as the magician casually placed the rose in a crack in the rock. She frowned, “Don’t put that stuff in my territory!”
“Still hate roses, huh?” The magician didn’t remove it, feigning ignorance, “Why hate them? Such a beautiful red… symbolizing passionate love.”
Little Red’s eyes darkened, “Magician!”
The magician had no intention of stopping, pointing at the female giant beneath her, “And these creations, they’re not your parents.”
Little Red’s eyes turned red with anger, her large, round eyes filled with fury, “Mind your own business!”
The magician snapped his fingers, and white feathers began to emerge endlessly from his palm, swirling in the breeze and filling the air.
Amidst the flurry of white feathers, the magician spoke softly, “The monsters you’ve used can never be recreated exactly the same. Only your ‘parents,’ no matter how damaged, you keep repairing and strengthening… Little Red, does this remind you of anything?”
“……”
She couldn’t recall anything.
She just felt… she just felt she should have parents too…
“Sorry to interrupt your chat.” Suddenly, a small doll appeared in front of her, and Little Red was taken aback, watching as the tiny figure descended with a faint glimmer of silver light.
What?
Little Red quickly turned her head, relieved to see the male giant still intact behind her.
The magician watched the delicate doll fall amidst the white feathers and waved happily, “Young master, do you want to control me…”
“You’re playing with feathers here, it’s affecting visibility,” the doll said calmly.
The magician was momentarily speechless.
The doll landed on the ground with the silver thread, “Give me a few seconds.”
With that, he took a few steps into the air with the wind’s direction, the bob jingling softly. The magician watched as the doll gracefully flew around the female giant’s body and then returned to him.
Choosing to fight the giant alone was simply because the doll was smaller than most people, making him perhaps even smaller than an ant in front of the giant, thus reducing the chance of being hit.
And the magician could control him, so if he wanted to cause trouble, he could control him again.
Luo Yiran landed lightly, watching the magician with the blood-red bandages stretch out his hands as if to embrace him.
The magician’s Adam’s apple moved, “Young master, you really are like an angel…”
Before he finished speaking, the “angel” placed the silver thread in his hand, “Here, hold this.”
“…?”
The magician looked up, only then noticing that the silver thread had already wrapped several times around the male giant’s neck and the female giant’s body.
The magician gripped the silver thread tightly, watching as the doll, who seemed like an angel in his eyes, manipulated him to retreat swiftly, darting into the forest.
The massive giants crashed to the ground, and Little Red, atop the female giant’s head, was caught off guard and fell down.
The doll looked at the map, avoiding the direction where his teammates were, dragging the giants forward.
He didn’t have the strength to sever the giant’s neck, though there were other ways to cut it if he thought about it, but with the magician there, there was no need to use more time-consuming methods.
A large swath of trees fell.
The doll lay on the magician’s shoulder, watching the devastation behind them. He suddenly noticed something and gently patted the magician’s cheek, “Let’s hurry, Little Red is chasing us.”
If it weren’t for Little Red hopping like a rabbit, he might not have seen her fierce expression due to the giant’s body blocking the view.
The magician eyed the two boulders ahead and called out, “Young Master.”
The doll turned around and gave a slight smile. “This is it.”
The giants had tough skin, and their bones were even tougher, but his silver thread could still slice through their shallow flesh, especially when it was exceedingly sharp.
The magician swiftly moved between the boulders, then tugged the silver thread back. Soon, they brushed past Little Red, who had just jumped onto the giant’s body.
In an instant, Little Red realized what the doll and the magician were planning to do, and she exploded-
“You-”
The two giants, led by the silver thread, crashed into the boulders. They struggled against the band around their bodies and necks, emitting a deeply suppressed roar.
But their bodies couldn’t get past the boulders, and the silver thread prevented them from standing, leaving them to struggle desperately.
Little Red was on top of them, and with a violent movement, she was thrown off, letting out a cry of alarm.
The giants stopped suddenly, their wild hair revealing eyes as chaotic as those of many old men, emotionlessly watching Little Red.
Little Red paused sharply.
Then she calmed down-while the magician could sever their bodies, the doll could not. Even if the doll controlled the magician, under the rules, the doll still couldn’t harness all the magician’s power…
With a loud ripping sound, Little Red’s thoughts were abruptly interrupted. She watched as the two giants split apart in front of her, blood spraying, almost forming a small river on the ground.
How could this be?!
Little Red sharply turned her head, then she saw the magician release the silver thread, bowing elegantly to her while fresh blood seeped from beneath his bandages on his fingers, forehead, and all over his body.
Drip-drip-
The shrill sound of an alarm echoed in her ears, the cold voice bringing the additional punishment for this violation.
The magician listened, his smile slowly fading.
Beneath the doll was a pool of wet blood. He frowned, “Is this the quickest method you mentioned?” It might have been better to just slowly pull, which would still have damaged the giants’ bodies.
The magician felt himself being pulled by an invisible force, adding to his pain, yet his voice still carried a touch of cynical amusement, “I believe that the Young Master controlling me would have enough strength to kill them, but in the meantime, Little Red might find a way to destroy the silver thread.”
Still joking? Luo Yiran narrowed his eyes dangerously, “But I also said, your body now belongs to me, you have no right…”
The doll’s voice abruptly stopped as the ground beneath him suddenly gave way, and his body plummeted rapidly.
Luo Yiran’s eyes widened slightly, only hearing the magician’s last words, faint to the point of being barely audible-
“Young master, wait for my return…”
As the body hit the ground, the doll looked up-the magician had vanished.
