Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 80 - A Beauty Appears
What should I do now? Tang Jie thought that Chen Shuran might have been kidnapped, but now he had no choice but to face the situation.
Tang Jie stood at the door of the room, took out his phone, and was about to call Uncle Zhao to tell him that Chen Shuran might have been kidnapped when he suddenly heard a sound coming from Chen Shuran’s room.
He hurried inside and listened carefully, realizing the noise was coming from the wardrobe.
Holding his breath, Tang Jie walked over and abruptly pulled open the wardrobe door, only to see a slender, fair ankle partially obscured by some hanging clothes. He was taken aback, and before he could speak, the person inside leaped into his arms.
“Where have you been? Why did you leave me all alone?”
Chen Shuran, sobbing, clung tightly to Tang Jie, her body trembling. He could immediately tell that she was scared.
Suddenly feeling a pang of compassion in his heart, he instinctively wrapped his arms around her trembling shoulders and comforted her, “Don’t cry, I’m back now, right?”
Upon hearing Tang Jie’s words, Chen Shuran gradually stopped crying and looked up at him, as if trying to confirm it was really him.
Tang Jie reached out to wipe away her tears. Thinking of the mess in the living room and seeing that she was no longer as frightened, he couldn’t help but ask, “What happened just now? Tell me.”
Chen Shuran’s eyes showed fear again at Tang Jie’s question. She still didn’t dare to let go of him and, after a moment of contemplation, replied, “I was lying in bed, and after some time, I heard a noise outside. I thought it was you, so I didn’t pay much attention, but when I listened closely, it didn’t seem like just one person. Sensing something was off, I hurried to the door to listen for a bit. I heard several people come in, and it seemed they were heading toward my room, so I quickly hid in the wardrobe.”
As Tang Jie listened to Chen Shuran’s words, suspicion flashed in his eyes. Could it have been an intruder?
“What happened next?”
“Then I heard things being smashed. I was so frightened that I didn’t even dare to breathe while hiding in the wardrobe. After that, I heard them enter the room. It seemed like they saw no one and then left.”
“How long after I left did that happen?”
The more Tang Jie listened, the more he felt something was off. The people Chen Shuran described were clearly not thieves; they must have come looking for someone-either for him or for Chen Shuran.
“I don’t know when you left; it was… about half an hour after I pushed you out.”
As she reached this point, a tone of guilt laced her voice. She realized that if she hadn’t quarreled with Tang Jie, what happened just now might not have taken place.
“You still haven’t told me where you went just now?” As she thought about those people coming in when Tang Jie was absent, Chen Shuran guessed that he must have left.
Hearing Chen Shuran’s question, guilt began to stir in Tang Jie’s heart. “I just stepped out for a bit; I’m sorry. I promise I won’t leave you like that again.”
“Really?” As Tang Jie spoke, Chen Shuran’s fear quickly dissipated. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at him, waiting for his response.
“Yeah.” Tang Jie nodded. If something had truly happened to Chen Shuran, he wouldn’t be able to shoulder that responsibility. Even if Chen Jiankai didn’t do anything, he would never forgive himself.
“Alright, it’s getting late. You should get some sleep,” Tang Jie said as he looked at Chen Shuran, planning to let her rest while he tidied up the living room.
Unexpectedly, Chen Shuran grabbed his arm, her face showing panic. “I’m scared. Can you please not leave?”
Tang Jie gazed at Chen Shuran. He thought about the chaos outside and felt a bit troubled. However, seeing her frightened expression made his heart soften. He decided to put off cleaning for now and stay by her side.
As soon as Chen Shuran saw Tang Jie agree to stay, a smile lit up her face. After a moment, she looked at him, her lips moving for a while before finally saying, “Tang Jie, can you stay with me tonight?”
Tang Jie responded with a hesitant “Mm.” He was still pondering the situation; he felt that the events of the night had been rather suspicious. He had just left for the stadium, and shortly after, people came to the villa. Wasn’t that a bit too coincidental?
“Then, can you stay with me to sleep?” After saying that, Chen Shuran’s face turned as red as an apple, and she lowered her head, not daring to look at Tang Jie.
“Mm.”
“What?” Tang Jie didn’t understand her at first. By the time he registered her words, his heart skipped a beat. Did she want him to sleep with her?
Sensing Tang Jie’s surprise, Chen Shuran’s lips parted slightly, and a look of deep hurt suddenly crossed her face. Tang Jie quickly reassured her, “Alright, I agree. As long as you don’t cry, I’ll do anything you want.”
Recalling Chen Shuran’s previous behavior, Tang Jie felt a bit apprehensive. Sleeping next to her was one thing, but considering the scene that had unfolded in the bathroom-a sultry and alluring experience-he couldn’t help but feel a thrill. The distinguished heiress of the Chen Group, dressed so seductively for him to massage… oh my, why did his face suddenly feel so warm?
“Hey! You’re bleeding!” Chen Shuran noticed blood trickling from Tang Jie’s nose and rushed to grab some tissues, carefully pressing them to his nose to stop the flow.
Regaining his senses, Tang Jie smiled sheepishly at Chen Shuran. “Thanks, but I can handle it myself.” He attempted to take the tissues from her.
Seeing the two crumpled tissues stuffed up his nostrils made Chen Shuran chuckle. She couldn’t help but laugh, “Tang Jie, are you too excited or something?”
Looking at the radiant Chen Shuran, who was laughing cheerfully, Tang Jie thought she looked much better than when she was angry. Of course, she was pretty even when upset.
“I don’t know, maybe?” he answered casually.
“Is it because you saw me… that’s why you got too excited?”
“Mm?” Tang Jie didn’t quite understand. He looked into her big, sparkling eyes, which were captivating. It almost felt like he was getting lost in them.
“Tang Jie, will you be my boyfriend?” Chen Shuran gazed at him, her face flushed with shyness. This time,, instead of looking down, she confidently held her gaze on Tang Jie.
Now it was Tang Jie who felt a bit shy. After processing Chen Shuran’s previous behavior, he grasped her feelings this time, but he still couldn’t give a definitive answer.
“Are you unwilling? If you don’t like me, it’s okay to say so. We can continue as we were before, and I promise I won’t mess with you anymore.”
Chen Shuran spoke with sincerity, but Tang Jie could detect a hint of sadness in her voice, which made him feel a pang of guilt.
“Don’t worry, no matter what happens in the future, I will protect you.” After thinking for a long time, that was the best he could say.
He and Chen Shuran were still in a contractual relationship, and he couldn’t promise her anything about the future since he had nothing to offer-except for his commitment to keep her safe.
Chen Shuran seemed to understand Tang Jie’s feelings and no longer insisted. With her head lowered, she appeared deep in thought. After a while, she looked up at Tang Jie, her eyes shimmering. “Then can you stay with me and sleep here for the night?”
“Are you really asking me… to sleep here?” Tang Jie glanced at Chen Shuran’s bed. Although it was quite spacious, two people would still be a bit crowded. If she said she was scared, he could stand guard by the door all night; that was his duty. But sharing a bed was something he couldn’t quite imagine-what would it feel like for a man and a woman to squeeze together in one bed?
Yet, for some reason, he felt a mix of anticipation inside him. And there was a certain sensation stirring in another part of his body.
“Alright, I’ll go take a shower first.” Tang Jie wanted to suppress that uncomfortable feeling within him, so he dashed toward the bathroom. When Chen Shuran was about to say, Haven’t you already showered? she saw him already rushing into the bathroom and stopped herself.
However, once Tang Jie left, the blush on Chen Shuran’s cheeks lingered, reminiscent of the beautiful glow of sunset.
When Tang Jie came out, Chen Shuran had already made the bed and changed into a set of cartoon-themed sleepwear. Tang Jie looked at her and thought to himself that the previous outfit had suited her better.
“Let’s go to sleep,” she said, handing Tang Jie a set of clothes. “Here, change into these; they’re men’s sleepwear.”
Tang Jie took the clothes, feeling a bit shy as he returned to his room to change. While putting on the sleepwear, thoughts of what might happen later filled his mind, causing a rush of excitement. But wearing this sleepwear, along with Chen Shuran’s earlier generous demeanor, made him feel that it was nowhere near the same level of sultry allure they had in the bathroom.
Tang Jie couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed. Even though he couldn’t promise Chen Shuran much, who wouldn’t like a beauty? He was still a passionate young man, after all, and he enjoyed the flirtation.
“Are you ready?” Chen Shuran’s voice pulled him from his thoughts, and Tang Jie hurriedly finished dressing and went over.
On the bed lay two thin blankets, with a small gap left in the middle. Chen Shuran glanced at him, then climbed into the blankets.
“Time to sleep; we have school tomorrow,” she said, turning off the bedside light. Tang Jie stood there for a moment, feeling a bit lost, and finally crawled into the blankets, much like a husband who had been neglected by his wife.
Once under the covers, Tang Jie found it impossible to fall asleep. He didn’t dare to move, yet it felt like ants were crawling all over him. After a while, he heard Chen Shuran’s rhythmic breathing beside him. Only then did he slightly shift his body closer to her.
He had been sleeping with half of his body hanging off the edge of the bed. If he fell asleep like that, he would definitely tumble off.
After shifting a bit, he nervously listened for Chen Shuran’s reactions, realizing she seemed to have already fallen asleep, allowing him to finally relax and exhale deeply.
