Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 73 - Chen Feng's Speculation!
In the morning, the hot sun was accompanied by a refreshing breeze.
At the school gate of No. 2 High School, a deep blue sports car slowly came to a stop outside the entrance. The driver’s side door opened, and a man dressed in a white casual outfit and wearing light brown sunglasses stepped out.
“This is No. 2 High School!” The man was Qin Haozhong, who had been rescued by Tang Jie not long ago. His injuries had healed, and after being discharged from the hospital, he eagerly sought news about Tang Jie.
After learning about Tang Jie, Qin Haozhong bought a brand-new sports car, identical to the one that had been damaged in the accident, and arrived at No. 2 High School.
“Stop right there!”
Just as Qin Haozhong was about to step into No. 2 High School, a voice rang out. The old security guard emerged from the guardroom, looking at Qin Haozhong with a vigilant expression.
“Sir, is there something I can help you with?” Qin Haozhong was surprisingly polite. Although his background was stronger than that of many people, he showed no hint of arrogance.
Even when facing ordinary folks, he maintained a friendly demeanor.
“You’re not a student here, are you?” The old security guard, still on high alert, stepped forward and blocked Qin Haozhong’s way, preventing him from entering No. 2 High School.
“Sir, do I look like a high school student?” Qin Haozhong smiled slightly, took off his light brown sunglasses, and spoke up.
“If you’re not a student here, then what do you want to do inside?” The old security guard didn’t back down and took another step forward.
“I’m here to see someone!” Qin Haozhong said, pulling out a pack of high-quality cigarettes from his pocket and offering one to the old security guard.
“Really?” The old security guard’s eyes lit up upon seeing the cigarette. After accepting it, his vigilant look relaxed a little.
“Yes, sir, I just want to find someone and will be out shortly. Could you please let me in?” Qin Haozhong paused, then offered the entire pack of cigarettes and added, “What do you think?”
“Alright, but you need to be quick!” The old security guard, seeing the full pack of cigarettes, brightened up, took the cigarettes, and stepped aside.
“Mm-hmm!” Qin Haozhong nodded and then stepped into the campus of No. 2 High School.
“This kid is more troublesome than that student council member,” the old security guard muttered, watching Qin Haozhong disappear from sight. He pulled out a lighter and lit a cigarette, exhaling smoke with a sigh.
But as he thought about the cold, dark, emotionless gaze from Tang Jie that still haunted him, he shivered. Was that the kind of look a person should have? It was chilling and devoid of any warmth.
Stepping onto the campus of No. 2 High School, it was the break time between classes.
Dressed in a white casual outfit, Qin Haozhong immediately drew attention, especially from the girls.
As they noticed his good looks and the charm he exuded, the girls couldn’t help but gaze at him with starry eyes, completely mesmerized.
The boys, on the other hand, remained much calmer. After a quick glance at Qin Haozhong, they returned to what they were doing.
However, a few boys, noticing their girlfriends fawning over Qin Haozhong, directed some hostility his way.
Qin Haozhong merely smiled at the attention. He raised his head, glanced at the teaching building ahead, and then walked over.
“Oh my gosh, am I seeing things? He’s walking towards me.”
“Dream on! With your looks, there’s no way that handsome guy is coming to find you; he’s clearly looking for me!”
“Actually, I’ll be honest with you; that handsome guy is here for me.”
“…………”
The girls were chattering excitedly in the corridor of the teaching building, their tones filled with enthusiasm, but this was just the opinion of a few.
The buzz of conversation varied in volume, but Qin Haozhong heard it all. He didn’t respond; instead, he maintained a calm smile on his face.
“So handsome! Ah…”
One particularly attractive girl stood directly opposite Qin Haozhong. Thinking he was smiling at her, her full lips quivered in excitement, and with a gasp, she swooned and fainted.
Qin Haozhong noticed this and, seeing the girl collapse, a black line appeared on his forehead. After an awkward smile, he quickened his pace significantly.
“Excuse me, could you tell me where Class 5 of Senior Year is?” After entering the teaching building, Qin Haozhong paused and asked a girl.
“It’s, it’s on the third floor!” The girl swallowed hard; she blushed involuntarily when she met Qin Haozhong’s clear, deep gaze.
“Thank you!” After getting the answer he wanted, Qin Haozhong turned and walked up the stairs.
Word spread quickly around the school, and by the time Qin Haozhong reached the third floor, more than half of the girls already knew that a handsome rich second generation had arrived at No. 2 High School.
Without much effort, Qin Haozhong easily found Class 5, standing at the door of the classroom. He glanced inside but didn’t see the person he was looking for.
“Hey, Shuran-Jie, this guy looks familiar!” Just then, Chen Shuran and Xiao Ran arrived at the classroom door. Xiao Ran’s keen eyes immediately spotted Qin Haozhong standing there, observing.
“Hmm?!” Chen Shuran turned to look. Qin Haozhong, dressed in white casual clothes, stood out starkly against the uniformed students.
“Oh right, he’s the unfortunate guy who had that car accident the other day! He’s healed up since we last saw him!” Xiao Ran finally recognized Qin Haozhong and pointed at his back.
Hearing Xiao Ran’s voice, Qin Haozhong turned around. Upon seeing Chen Shuran and Xiao Ran, he gave an awkward smile and walked over, saying, “Hi, beautiful ladies! How are you?”
“Hello!” Chen Shuran nodded politely.
“Hey there, unlucky guy!” Xiao Ran responded with a grin.
“Cough, cough…” Xiao Ran’s words made Qin Haozhong’s expression change slightly. After clearing his throat awkwardly, he replied, “What happened that day was purely accidental. I’m actually here to find you two and, um, Tang Jie, to thank you for saving my life.”
“Oh!” Before Chen Shuran could respond, Xiao Ran, ever the precocious one, nodded seriously and said, “No good food, no deal!”
“Xiao Ran, have a little dignity, would you? Don’t embarrass me,” Chen Shuran said, her face flushed with embarrassment, stopping Xiao Ran from saying anything else. She turned to Qin Haozhong and smiled apologetically, saying, “I’m sorry, my friend can be like that. Please don’t take it personally.”
“No, no, it’s fine! Even if she hadn’t said anything, a meal is really no trouble as a thank-you!” Qin Haozhong waved his hands, presenting himself like a gentleman.
“I haven’t properly introduced myself yet. My name is Qin Haozhong. What are your names, beauties?” Qin Haozhong realized he still didn’t know the names of the two beautiful girls in front of him and quickly introduced himself before turning to Chen Shuran and Xiao Ran.
“I’m Chen Shuran!” Chen Shuran’s attitude towards Qin Haozhong was much less cold than when they first met, though she still didn’t show the same warmth she had towards Tang Jie.
Her change in demeanor was largely due to the fact that Qin Haozhong had consistently maintained his gentlemanly demeanor, and Chen Shuran sensed no ulterior motives in his eyes, which put her at ease.
“Um… I’m Xiao Ran. Handsome guy, now we’re officially introduced! Does what you said earlier still count?” Xiao Ran asked playfully.
“It definitely counts!” Now that he knew their names, Qin Haozhong nodded, paused, and continued, “But where’s Tang Jie? I haven’t seen him around.”
“He’s not at school today,” Chen Shuran replied, shaking her head. “Let me call him and find out where he is.”
Chen Shuran had initially intended to say that Tang Jie was sleeping at home, having received a call from Uncle Zhao earlier, confirming that Tang Jie had returned to the villa. However, she hesitated, remembering that some might not perceive Tang Jie staying at her place as innocent, especially Xiao Ran, who often spoke without thinking.
With that thought in mind, Chen Shuran pulled out her phone and dialed Tang Jie’s number. After a brief wait, the call connected, and she asked, “Tang Jie, where are you?”
“I’m at home, what’s up?” Tang Jie replied with a yawn, relaxing on his soft bed.
“Come to school quickly, Qin Haozhong is looking for you.” Chen Shuran added, “He’s the one you saved during that car accident on Guanqian Street.”
Before Tang Jie could respond, Chen Shuran hung up the phone. Tang Jie, still wanting to say something, was met with a busy signal as the call ended.
“This girl!” Tang Jie shook his head in resignation, put down his phone, stretched, got out of bed, and after getting ready, left for school.
On Chen Shuran’s side, after hanging up the phone, Qin Haozhong asked, “Miss Chen, what’s the update?”
“He’ll be here soon!” Chen Shuran tucked her phone back into her pocket and replied slowly.
“That’s great,” Qin Haozhong smiled slightly in response.
At that moment, a clear bell rang throughout the campus, signaling students in the playground and the hallways of the teaching building to rush to their classrooms.
“Shuran-Jie, class is starting!” Xiao Ran said from beside her.
“Since that’s the case, I should get going. My car is waiting at the school gate and will stay until you finish class!” With that, Qin Haozhong headed down the stairs of the teaching building.
