Chapter 5
“No, thanks.” I smiled and shook my head at him, then looked at Gu Haochen. “Grandma asked me to tell you to come home for dinner.”
Gu Haochen pulled the Omega back into his arms. “Can’t you see I’m busy? Tangtang is about to go abroad for his studies, and this is the last gathering we’re throwing for him as friends. You’re not going to be unreasonable and make a scene, are you?”
Little Omega stood up again, reaching out to tug his arm. “The party’s over, you should go back now, go on, go on.”
Gu Haochen glared at Little Omega, and I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
What a scene.
“Tangtang is my friend too.” I walked over and sat down next to Little Omega. “I’ll talk to Grandma, let me join you guys in seeing him off.”
Now Little Omega had Gu Haochen on one side and me on the other, clearly feeling proud, his face glowing with happiness.
The rest of the people in the private room had no idea what was going on, watching Little Omega and me chatting and laughing, completely bewildered.
What was this supposed to be?
I was elegant and witty, Little Omega was charming and sweet, while Gu Haochen sat beside us, drinking one gloomy glass after another, looking like a man with a green cloud hanging over his head.
He forgot that I am an Alpha, and a player at that.
I know exactly how to strike with precision.
I had already found out that this Little Omega’s father was a gambler, and the family owed several million in high-interest loans. He’d been with Gu Haochen for a year, with Gu Haochen supporting him, protecting him, paying for his education, but never once mentioning helping him pay off his debts.
Was Gu Haochen short of a few million? Was he incapable of dealing with his father and stopping him from gambling?
No, Gu Haochen wanted to use this matter to keep Little Omega under his thumb, to make him a substitute.
Originally, Little Omega hadn’t realized this, but when Gu Haochen refused to pay Twenty Million and used him to brush me off, he understood.
So I gave Little Omega three million. During his time with Gu Haochen, he’d only gotten a few handbags; now he knew to ask Gu Haochen to fund his studies as a breakup fee.
With the three million I gave him, he could leave his unlucky family behind, get away from Gu Haochen, finish his studies, and live very well.
Now, naturally, Little Omega’s heart leaned toward me.
Gu Haochen drank a few more glasses, watching Little Omega focus only on talking to me, feeling both angry and bitter.
His eyes flickered, and I wondered if he was thinking again of his White Moonlight who died young. In his mind, his White Moonlight would never turn to another man for a few petty favors and smile at him like that.
The atmosphere at the party grew awkward, so that group of good-for-nothing friends all found their own excuses and quickly dispersed.
Gu Haochen got dead drunk, and Little Omega, a bit worried, stayed with me to help get Gu Haochen into his car, then said goodbye to me.
He sincerely thanked me.
