Chapter 30
After the dinner gathering, the director and I took leave and bought tickets back to Shangjing.
When I entered the Gu Family villa, I specifically told the butler and the maids not to notify Gu Haochen, saying only that I wanted to give him a surprise.
Gu Haochen wasn’t in the master bedroom. I walked around all the rooms twice, but still didn’t see any sign of him. I asked the butler, who said Gu Haochen hadn’t gone out. Suddenly, a hunch struck me, and I went to the walk-in closet.
Sure enough, Gu Haochen was in the closet, lying on a pile of clothes.
Those were obviously all my clothes-coats, shirts, socks. Gu Haochen had made a nest out of them, curling up inside while hugging a coat. His body fat percentage wasn’t high, so his six-month belly was already very obvious. Maybe his skin had become sensitive, so he’d switched to silk loungewear, and his calves sticking out of the pants looked swollen like radishes.
I hadn’t expected him to nest-an Alpha, nesting because he missed another Alpha’s pheromone. I walked quietly to his side, staring at his haggard face, at his brows still tightly furrowed even in sleep.
A faint pain tugged at my chest.
I felt unsurprised satisfaction, and at the same time, malice welled up inside me.
“Haochen…” I called him.
He opened his eyes in a daze, saw my face, then closed them again. He seemed to think I was a hallucination and didn’t move at all.
I bent down and picked him up, holding him as I carried him to the bed.
Half-awake and floating, he finally came to his senses. He lifted his arms, wrapped them around my neck, sat up, and pressed his nose greedily against my neck.
Then he smelled the papaya-scented pheromone on me.
