Chapter 12
I don’t know if Linghua believed it, but after that, the number of times he stirred up trouble decreased, though he seemed a bit gloomy and withdrawn.
The old lady was eager to see the results of my marriage to Gu Haochen, repeatedly creating opportunities for us to deepen our relationship, even forcibly arranging for us to attend social banquets as a married couple.
When the music started, neither Gu Haochen nor I was willing to take the female steps, both gritting our teeth and refusing to lose face, so our dancing looked more like fighting at the ball.
Our legs got tangled, and under everyone’s gaze, we fell down, ending up with a classic idol drama-style mouth-to-mouth collision.
Linghua went crazy on the spot, roaring at Gu Haochen, “Have you forgotten our past?” and ran out of the banquet hall.
I found him by the pool, and he put on another classic scene for me.
He glared at me fiercely and said, “Do you believe cousin would save me, but not you?”
The moment Gu Haochen appeared in his line of sight, he pulled me into the swimming pool with him.
Water splashed everywhere as he shouted, “Cousin, help! Help!”
Gu Haochen rushed over in a panic, but the poolside was slippery; he lost his footing and did a split, rolling onto the ground in pain.
Linghua swallowed several mouthfuls of water, panicking and sinking deeper into the pool.
Meanwhile, I leisurely swam over to him and pulled him up to the surface.
That night, under the moonlight, Linghua opened his eyes after his brush with death and saw me surrounded by moonbeams, my eyes shimmering, my features as alluring as a siren.
Water dripped from my hair, running down my jaw, collarbone, and sliding over my well-trained chest and abs.
My burning body pressed against his skin in the cold water.
Linghua was dazed again, then got a nosebleed.
His fingers trembled as he gently touched my lips.
I chuckled softly.
“Have you fallen for me?”
Gu Haochen’s furious roar sounded behind me: “Linghua! What are you doing!”
Only then did Linghua snap out of it, his face turning deathly pale.
Gu Haochen, still fuming, left Linghua and me behind, limping back toward the banquet hall.
Linghua climbed out of the pool and hurried after him.
“Cousin, cousin! Cousin, you’ve got it wrong! I didn’t!”
I got out of the water, casually wrung out my clothes, and strolled after them.
Then I heard Linghua, in front of the old lady and several other guests who had also come over, grab Gu Haochen and confess, “Cousin, I don’t like him, the one I like is you. I like you, I’ve always liked you!”
Gu Haochen looked up at me, his lips suddenly trembling.
“Oh dear.” I put my hands in my pockets, leaning against the door with a smile. “Thank you, President Gu. Cash or bank transfer?”
