Chapter 10
“Cousin, I want to live here.”
Linghua stood in front of the master bedroom door, pointing at the European-style bed inside, his eyes bright with pride and arrogance.
The old lady stopped him: “This is Haochen and Zhizhu’s new room. How can you be so thoughtless?”
Linghua looked at me, raised his brows, but still insisted on staying: “This room has good lighting and ventilation. My lungs aren’t well, I need to recuperate. What’s wrong with just staying a few days?”
Gu Haochen’s face darkened.
I didn’t know how much Gu Haochen usually spoiled that cousin, to let him speak with such confidence, but… in this room, something had just happened that Gu Haochen probably wouldn’t want anyone to know about.
“No, I’ll arrange another room for you.” Gu Haochen refused as expected.
Linghua’s expression changed dramatically: “Haochen, how could you…”
He lowered his head, looking as if he was about to cry. “If Tangtang were still here, he definitely wouldn’t let you treat me like this. Tangtang was always the best to me, he was most afraid of me getting sick. He’d take care of me without me even asking.”
He actually looked pretty cute all aggrieved, if he hadn’t been shooting me sideways glances full of resentment as he spoke.
Those words clearly touched Gu Haochen. His expression softened, but because of some unspeakable reason, he still didn’t give in right away: “Linghua, why don’t you look at another room…”
I spoke up: “This bed is pretty big.”
“What?” Gu Haochen looked at me in confusion.
I added, “It can fit three people.”
Both Gu Haochen and Linghua were stunned.
“I and your cousin can both stay with you and take care of you.” I smiled brightly, subtly releasing a hint of tequila pheromone. “Linghua’s health isn’t good, I can’t rest easy. Two people can always take better care than one.”
Linghua was dazed for a moment, stammering, “Th-three people?”
The old lady let out a snort of laughter and pulled Linghua away: “You haven’t seen Grandma in a long time. Just stay in the room next to Grandma’s. What do these young people know? Grandma’s been sick for years and knows how to take care of you best, and there’s always someone around.”
Once the old lady and Linghua had gone far, Gu Haochen turned back, looking at me with utter disdain.
“Don’t think you can win me over with tricks like that.”
I blinked, not understanding.
“No matter how much you imitate…” Gu Haochen snorted coldly as he walked past me, “you’re not Tangtang.”
