Chapter 22
Extra: You Are My Everything
Three months later.
The art collection was officially released.
Chenchen Weimin became the hottest IP.
I watched her grow step by step, meeting more people, until she forgot about me.
-Gu Xuchen
I have always had a clear understanding of myself-I am not a passionate person, perhaps even indifferent.
Maybe, as my mother said,
It’s genetic.
Or perhaps I’ve simply grown used to staying calm amidst scheming and intrigue.
The Gu Family’s vast enterprise.
I had to start getting involved at the age of twelve, always staying one step ahead of others, spending countless hours dancing with study, which made me particularly weak in other aspects.
Only a sharp tongue and cold demeanor could mask my lack of expertise elsewhere.
I don’t make excuses for who I was, only regret not changing sooner, so much so that I lost her.
The first time I met Ye Min,
I didn’t pay much attention, just noticed she often took the same route as me, until she boldly came up to me and said she wanted me to be her boyfriend.
She wasn’t the first, nor would she be the last.
Because I would reject every girl who tried to get close to me.
During my university years,
Although I was already involved with the family business, that money wasn’t truly earned by me. I needed absolute financial independence, which would allow me to do more, to expand the career map I wanted.
Before Ye Min appeared again, I was always like this, even enjoying it.
My life.
The rules and routines I set, every day completed on schedule.
Back then,
Ye Min seemed like an accident, yet she was the most suitable and safest choice for marriage. She was my sister’s friend, cheerful, pure and kind, living in her own way, with a simple family structure.
At first,
I couldn’t get used to it, but as time passed, I wanted to spoil her, knowing she liked bags, I’d buy them; liked cars, I’d buy them.
My wife.
Never had to compromise on the price of anything, but had to strictly follow the curfew.
Actually, there was no real curfew, I just worried she’d get into trouble if she drank too much, so I set it up on purpose.
She was strange.
Seemed dissatisfied, but always obediently complied.
Back then,
She revolved around me every day, like a cuckoo bird.
I was a bit annoyed, but occasionally noticed her disappointment. I didn’t even realize it at the time, but I would make time for her, going along with her mischief.
She was the unruliness in my rules.
She truly was an unruly person.
She and I,
Were like two ends of a scale, and she always desperately ran toward me…
Maybe,
She used up all her strength back then.
Even if I turned back,
She no longer had the energy to give me a smile, or even a glance. I tried to salvage something, but I was so clumsy.
Yes.
Clumsy-I never thought I’d have anything to do with that word.
But,
That’s the truth.
Clumsy, in my anxious unease, after feeling her disappointment, sadness, longing, and all kinds of emotions, I suddenly turned around.
Between us,
It was like a long zipper in stop-motion animation, pulled open and splitting into scattered candies, scattered to the ends of the earth.
In the height of summer,
A cool breeze brushed my face. Every time her art collection went on sale, I would arrange my schedule in advance, lining up to buy it. The queue was long, but I felt a moment of peace.
At that time, all the scenery seemed blurred.
And she,
Was my Everything.
I waited in the long line, slowly waiting, just like she once waited for me.
