Breaking Up Was a Choice I Planned All Along - Chapter 16
Twenty-five minutes later, I stood in the library’s lobby, sighing at the torrential rain outside. The weather forecast was spot on!
The boy stood next to me, rummaging through his shoulder bag. I glanced at the rain outside and stepped forward, “Excuse me, could you give me a lift?”
The boy looked at his shoulder bag, then at me, pursed his lips, and said, “Sorry, I didn’t bring an umbrella either.”
“Oh.”
I stepped back. No umbrella, yet searching for so long?
We stood in the lobby for a while, the rain outside showing no signs of letting up. I was lost in thought staring at the rain when I saw Chen Manman, wearing a white dress and holding a floral umbrella, walking through the rain.
She was clearly well-dressed, even her hair exuded a strong fragrance, overwhelming my senses.
“What a coincidence, Pianpian, you’re here too,” she greeted me while closing her umbrella. I pretended not to hear, raising my eyebrows at the rain outside.
She seemed accustomed to my disregard and didn’t mind, turning to greet the boy, “Meng Ce, let’s go.”
Her voice was so sweet it hurt my ears.
The boy named Meng Ce remained standing, casually responding, “Where to?”
Chen Manman paused, tugged at her dress, and smiled, “Didn’t you say you wanted to study?”
“Oh, I’m done,” he replied flatly, adding, “There’s still space on the second floor, you can go yourself.”
I turned my head, watching the smile fade from Chen Manman’s face. I couldn’t help but chuckle.
From high school to college, my impression of Chen Manman was like a deliberately blooming, bright flower. She navigated among boys with ease and grace, always with the perfect smile and innocent demeanor.
It was rare to see her falter with a boy.
Chen Manman regained her composure and changed her tone, “Actually, I…”
Meng Ce suddenly pulled out earphones from somewhere, put them on, and started humming to the beat.
Too perfect!
Chen Manman’s face turned red, she stomped her high heels, and walked into the library without stopping, clearly upset.
Meng Ce seemed oblivious, showing no expression, only a side profile to me. Putting aside his handsome face, his straightforward and brave actions just now earned him a +10 in likability.
Perhaps my gaze was too obvious, Meng Ce took off his earphones, turned around, and looked down at me, “Anything you need? Classmate.”
I licked my lips, and impulsively asked, “Do you have a girlfriend?”
