He suddenly had a craving for a cigarette again.
He went to the tobacco shop and bought a pack of the cigarettes he used to smoke most often.
Taking a puff, he suddenly found he didn’t like it as much anymore.
He asked the shopkeeper for another, milder kind.
But the shopkeeper said that kind was out of stock.

From the neighboring shop, music drifted out:

He smoked the old cigarette, tears stinging his eyes.
He stubbed out the cigarette and tossed the whole pack into the trash can.
